My ds who will be turning 4 this year is obssessed with tractors...especially John Deere. I have booked a farm for this birthday where the kids will get to ride a horse and go on a wagon ride. Now I have to think about goody bags and stuff. The colors will be yellow, brown, and green. I'm wondering should I do bandanas, cowboy hats, etc. I would also like a really cute cake. Last year he had a construction cake with little roads on it and construction vehicles, whoppers for "boulders", crushed oreos for dirt. It was a hit. But I can't think about what to do for a cake. I found some really cute pictures of John Deere cakes but we are not big fans of fondant. So any ideas for any part of the party will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

We did John Deere for my son's 1st birthday. I made the Wilton tractor cake. http://www.wilton.com/idea/Tractor-Cake I found John Deere napkins, but used solid green and yellow for the plates, cups, and utensils. I bought little green handled gift bags and decorated them with John Deere stickers. We filled them with John Deere fruit snacks, a sheet of John Deere stickers, and little cheapy party toys. The bandanas or cowboy hats would be really cute. You may want to try out Oriental Trading for those.

partyexpress.com has an entire line of John Deere stuff. We've ordered from there a few times, and my sons have both had JD birthday parties. Their stuff is nice, they ship fast and its reasonably priced.

I just attended a John Deere birthday party with my son (his friend was turning five). They had cupcakes with yellow or green frosting and little John Deere logos on toothpicks stuck in the top. The kids seemed to enjoy them and they actually looked pretty edible. I did notice a lot of John Deere birthday supply stuff at a party supply store recently when shopping, although they get rather expensive. Hope the party is great.

For cakes look at your local grocery store and on in the Wilton cake books. There are cakes out there they are fondont free still. :) As far as goody bags how about little tractors and some animals so they can make their own farm.
