Ideas for Games for 9 Year Old Boy's Party

Hi! My baby is going to have his birthday this coming Saturday. He's got a Lego theme going, but he's also very into soccer (fortunately, Lego makes a Soccer game set, so he's getting one :))

I am wondering if anyone has any good ideas for games. We're having everyone over at 3 and I'd like to keep it to a couple of hours long. I'm hoping that eating and presents will take up most of that time. I am thinking of getting a big tub of Legos and having kids build things then they can take their creations home. Any other ideas for games for the kids? There will be boys and girls, so I need to consider that. Ideas for outdoor games are appreciated, too. Thanks!

What can I do next?

How about a contest - split the kiddos into two or three teams - to see who can build the biggest/most unusual lego creation in --- amount of time.
And of course - my boys' favorite is the altime favorite - treasure hunt!

bowls with whipcream and time to see who finishes first.

Sounds like you have some great ideas. Boys love any type of obtacle races. You could use soccer balls and hit targets. Boys love hitting targets!

Relay races like the egg and spoon race, three legged race, wheelbarrow racing, sack/pillow case race. Also obstacle courses are fun: Go down the slide, hoola hoop three times, hit the target with a water balloon, do a summersault, etc. You could rent an inflatable bouncy thing too.

Indoor ideas: twister's always been a favorite.

Have a great party.
