I have a 2 and 3 year old and this year we will be home for the holidays. My husband works Christmas Eve 8am to 8pm and my family doesn't do anything on christmas eve so I am looking for something special and fun to do, maybe start a tradition. Any ideas????

What can I do next?

these are the ideas that come to mind....
1-drive around and look at the houses and the lights
2-go to church. many chirches have a candle light service.
3-bake cookies for santa
4-rent a christmas movie and stay home and have a family night
5- go to the movies

I was a single mom the past few years (not this year) and had nowhere for my daughter and I to go and didn't want another boring night in the house so we've done the following.

Drive around and look at Christmas lights, we bring popcorn and soda and she has a blast.

We've gone to the movies

We've gone out to eat

Other than that nothing is really open so your options are really limited. You could do some sort of charity and give back maybe go visit a nursing home or something.

I like the other ideas... but a candlelight service (which at our church is at 11pm) might be a little late for your little ones.

Are you letting the kids stay up late to see daddy when he gets home? If so maybe start the traditon of opening one and only one gift on Christmas Eve. I did that with my family when I was young and all 4 of us kids looked forward to it. We also made Christmas cookies after lunch.

One thing I have always enjoyed doing is driving around looking at Christmas Lights. I know that my 2 year old son is really getting big into looking at lights. Have fun and enjoy the relaxed time.

Snuggle down and read your favorite Christmas books. Does your church have a special service on the 24th? We have a candlelight/carols service. It is my favorite service of the year.
Merry Christmas!
