Ideas for a Birthday Party at a Park??

pinata, bubbles, balls ( to play catch or basketball for the older ones and some they can kick around for the little ones).. cant go wrong with any of those in case they get bored with the play area.

Its hard to have organized games with that age span.. trust me I know, we have tried although its comical to watch!

other than those I think the play area would be enough. Its more for the older ones getting bored or some of the younger ones not listening they could need a redirecting item.

Bring music and a LIMBO stick!

When I did this for my daughter, we BBQ'd, had 1 table craft, & brought a pinata. I also relied on the playground for entertainment. My daughter was 7 when we did this. It was alot of fun :-)

I think some organized games like a balloon toss would be fun. Definately bring bats and balls. The kids can play kick ball, flag football, wiffle ball etc... Bring a radio, If the kids get bored they can play freeze dance. Play the music, everyone dances, suddenly turn music off and everyone freezes. The person that continues to move is out, keep going until one person is left.

Face painting is always a hit, and there's a really easy and good quality kit by Klutz. It comes with a book with step by step for painting all different kinds of things from animals and soccer balls to full face butterflies and superheros. I got it at Michaels and have used this brand for a couple of years on all different aged kids. No one has ever has any type of allergic reaction to the paint.

We went to a park party recently where they had a treasure hunt and the kids really liked that.

You could do a nature walk and see what cool leaves and bugs etc. everyone sees. You could also try to do a simple scavenger hunt or I Spy game. Bringing a few balls is a good idea but, I wouldn't bring too much especially if there is a play ground area. The kids will have fun running and playing.

I will add these things to bring:
-sand buckets, shovels
-bean bags for bean bag toss (great for little ones)
-balloons (for decorations & a game if need be)
-pin the tail on the donkey
-couple of kick balls
-ring toss
-plastic kiddo golf club set (2 sets. $5 at Wal-mart)
-pinata
The playground itself is always good but best to have some fun games in your pocket. You never know.
Bring a little radio for light backgroun music. Put the batteries in. You most likely won't have a nearby outlet.

A bounce house if your park will allow one. You just can't go wrong there.

a few balloons - the kids will entertain themselves.

If you want a game, you can do a fun "Easter Egg Hunt" with your theme to it. ie: "Super Hero Search" and have super hero stickers in the eggs. Or "Dinosaur Hunt" and get plastic dinos and hide them in your pavillion/area.

For my son's 3rd birthday, I had a 'Balloon Pop" where the 3 kids attending (a 3 yr old, a 9 yr old, and a 12 yr old) all had to pop balloons. The first person to pop the balloon with the number "3" piece of paper inside was the winner. So the 3 kids sat on balloons, popping them, grabbed the rolled-up or folded-up piece of paper that I'd put inside when I blew up the balloon, read the number, and if it was a 3 they won. If it wasn't, then they grabbed another balloon. Funny thing was that the LAST balloon was the number 3. (For this game to work for you, You'd have to be sure all kids can read their numbers or that they'll have a helper to hold the balloon for them and help them read the number). It was hilarious to watch a 3 yr old, 12 yr old, and 9 yr old all jumping on these huge balloons trying to pop them. They had a little bit of a hard time!
