My daughter is 3 yrs. old. Recently she has been treated for a yeast infection. First with a cream then with liquid diflucan. It hasn't even been a week sence she completed it and she is complaining about her "potty" hurting. Is there something anyone knows about preventing it. I help her wipe and she doesn't take bubble baths. HELP

What can I do next?

Try letting her sit in a bath with baking soda. Is she on antibiotics? That can cause the yeast infections. I don't know much about it, sorry. I hope she feels better soon.

Well G., I've read the other responses and they sound good. Things I could add would be, to make her bathing time FAST. The less she is in the water the better. Also, use the hair dryer on the lowest setting(even cool) to get her dry faster. I know that sounds crazy, but our family has been through the craziest things involving yeast infections. They were a torment forever for us.

You definately want to watch your daughters sugar intake. This would include high doses of Carbs in her diet, and not just the direct sugar. According to doctors, sugar DOUBLES an infection every 20 minutes. That, along with the warm enviroment of this problem causes them to grow quickly. Use plain yogart with the cultures as a cream on your daughter. They will help.
The idea of getting her checked for diabetes is a good one. You should take her and at least as her doctor about it.

Acidophillus is wonderful. Not all kinds have to be refridgerated. We used wonderful chewable kinds. What a Godsend it was. My kids liked it, and it comes in Blueberry, banana, and Strawberry(our favorite)

Another thing, is that she shouldn't bath with any other siblings or you, this can make the infection spread to others.
We learned this when my DH gave the baby to me to bath in my bath, then all of a sudden, I had something weird I hadn't ever dealt with before.

Hope this helps!
Blessings.

Hi G.!
Has she been on antibiotics? She has an abundance of yeast in her system which can easily be treated with acidophilus tablets. There are tasty, chewable tablets you can buy for under $5 a bottle. Fred Meyer has them, as well as most health food stores or vitamin stores. They will be in the refrigerated section and need to be kept in the refrigerator. Or you can buy a powder, or open capsules and mix it in yogurt.

P.S. This works for recurrent adult yeast infections, too!

I go throught the same thing with my 3 year old daughter. Tr putting a Cup of baking soda in her bath water a few nights a week. It will also help a diaper rash. Even if my girls aren't saying theit potty hurts I till give them a baking soda bath 2-3 times a week.

I recommend the use of a probiotic called Culturelle. (www.culturelle.com) Walgreens carries it on-the-shelf with digestive aids and Albertson pharmacy can order it in. (Sometimes carry it behind the counter.) Culturelle helps balance the "good" bacteria in the stomach and helps keep yeast away. My son had trouble with yeast after being on antibiotics. He now takes Culturelle daily and is healthier than any of us!! It doesn't need to be kept refrigerated like acidophilus and comes in a capsule that can be separated and mixed into milk, applesauce, pudding - whatever she'd eat. Hope this helps. Culturelle was a godsend for us after dealing with terrible yeast problems.

have her eat yogurt on a regular basis. It has natural acidophillus (a good bacteria) that helps fight off yeast infection. If she doesn't like it plain, Mix it up a bit. My favorite is strawberry yogurt wih banana slices added.

A couple of thoughts. First of all, I have 3 girls so I have experience with this. I grew up outside of French Canada and my Canadian friends taught me the term milk infection. What they are referring to is sugar in milk. Do you see correlation between her milk consumption and infections? Another is too much sugar including simple sugar like fruit, it may be too much for her. Another thought is diabetes. One of my daughters is severely hypoglycemic and she is forever having a yeast problem. Remember to be EXTREMELY careful and clean her "potty" as you put it. If you don't remove the yeast, it just builds up. I recommend using a baby wash cloth, (be sure to tell her NO ONE else is to touch her) they are gentle. Oh and one last thought, you can buy with acidophilus , it is naturally found in yogurt with active cultures, (Primadophilus)at the health food store and raise her GOOD yeast - they now have a great flavored chewable and they are a miracle worker. I have rarely had success with prescriptions. Feel free to contact me if I may be able to help. Oh and Billings clinic has a naturapath on staff now and natural is the best way to go with this. GOOD LUCK, :)
