First I would like to say You should never ever have to invest in a JOB, however if you are wanting to start a successful business where you can earn long term residual income then there is an initial investment. If it says get in FREE it's a lIE. and to be honest you WON"T make any money. I have been in the industry for many years. I failed the first several years because the first company I was involved with was missing all of the 5 Critical elements that must be in place to insure the success of their distributors.
Timing, Solid corporate infrastructure, quality product or service, Lucrative compensation plan, and an effective training system.
If the company you are looking into is missing even ONE of these 5 then it won't work.
When I got started with Vitamark we were BROKE. There were several ways for me to start my business...Start at the basic level and work my way up or get started at a more serious level where we could earn the biggest profits right away! HMMM! tough call-what I quickly realized was that if I could make money right away then I could recoup my investment, write off the initial investment, and be on my way to profit or even double my money.
Having your own business takes a commitment and if you don't have an initial investment then there is no commitment. You have to be willing to make some commitments and sacrifices if you want to succeed.
Think about this-I got this out of an awesome book I am reading called"The Best Year of Your Life" by Debbie Ford (It is awesome!)
"What would I do if this were the last year of my
life? Would I continue to live each day as I lived
today? Would I be spending my time the way I am right
now?"

Take a moment and ponder the following question: If
you could live this past week over again, would you
choose to live each day exactly as it was, or would
you choose to live any of them differently? Most of
us won't allow ourselves to look at our lives through
this retrospective lense. One day rolls into the next
and most of us will forget today by the time tomorrow
comes unless it is infused with some special significance.

First of all, NEVER pay for a work from home job. It you have to invest, it's likely a scam. Do you have any other work experience you can spin off of? Perhaps do some consulting? Working from home is awesome if you find the right gig. Do you ever look on Kansas City's Craig's List. You can find gigs there. Good luck and do NOT pay anyone to employee.
