I have to caution you against Garner Animal Hospital on HWY 70 in Garner. I am not sure how they are with cats, but we had issues with the vet there and our family dog. Our dog was extremely fearful of the vet's office (naturally), and had snapped at the vet techs there on occasion. Dr Marlette then tried claimed that our dog was exhibiting behaviors of an "abused" dog. I was not sure what he was trying to insinuate, but we had had the dog since he was a puppy and he was never abused or mistreated in any way (he was just terrified of the vet's office). They also failed to diagnose diabetes in my brother's dog after repeated visits, and his dog subsequently died.
I am not sure what part of Garner you live in, but I would highly recommend Lake Wheeler Veterinary Hospital. It is in Raleigh, but is located over on Tryon Road between Garner and Cary (about 2 miles from the Garner Walmart/Lowes. Dr Grant is wonderful with cats and my two love her. She always manages to calm their nerves and is always gentle when working with them. I can take them both at one time with very little stress simply because everyone there is so helpful.

Hey,
Even after we moved to east Raleigh, we maintained Vet services at Garner Animal Hospital. We used them for literally 21 years until they did the sad work of putting our very old cat asleep (yes, the cat lived for 21 years). This is an older, not fancy, Vet office...with a huge heart. Since that time we have used VCA out on New Bern/ Hwy 64. They are more modern and equally as lovely.

Good luck to you, P. B

I really like Northwoods Animal Hospital in Cary. A little out of the way, but we drive from North Raleigh for their great service!

I don't know if this is too far for you, but I have an amazing cat vet in morrisville. They only takes cats, so are just so informed and up-to-date on treatments, problems, etc.
My cat is suffering from a rare disorder, and Dr. Miller has gone above-and-beyond researching in manuals, internet, and went as far as contacting old professors at the NC State Vet school. I just think she is wonderful and caring, and I find it's worth the drive for me.

I hope you get to check it out! the web is morrisvillecathospital, and the phone is ###-###-####. Welcome to the area!
