Hi everyone!
We are planning a vacation and can't decide if we should go to Disney World (was there 4 1/2 years ago) or do a Disney Cruise (week vacation). Our daughter is almost 12 and our boys are 6 and 15 months. Has anybody been on the Disney Cruise...is it worth it? Appreciate the help!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much everyone! You've all been very helpful! While we would love to do the cruise...it sounds like so much fun we decided to do Disney World and do the cruise in a few years. With your help we realized our youngest might be too young (a lot of age restrictions for the clubs, etc. and thanks Jennifer L for letting me know about the pool!) so I think it would be better to wait. Thanks again! :)

Hands down the Disney Cruise . . . that was one of the best trips we've ever taken as a family. It was incredibly relaxing (which is hard to believe with a ship full of kids).

Disney World is great, too, but it's a little more like basic training on steroids, especially if you go during the heat of the summer. We need a vacation from our vacation when we go there LOL.

The only thing I note about the cruise is your youngest - he/she might be too young for the kids' club (check the ages on their web site).

Good luck - hope you make the best choice for you!

We've done both and the cruise was PHENOMENAL and was definitely way more relaxing than trying to tackle Disney World. There are clubs for the almost-12-year-old and the 6-year-old and the little one can probably go the nursery for short periods if you and Dad want some adult time to yourselves. The restaurants are great and the eating options are endless so everyone should be happy. And you get at least one stop at Castaway Cay, their private island in the Bahamas, which is awesome and a chance to log in some beach time! We loved our Disney Cruise when we went and can't wait to go again!

We did a land and sea package...4 days at Disney, and 3 day cruise...it was awesome. Our kids were 13,12,10 at the time. When we were finished, all the kids agreed that they would rather have just done a week long cruise. The adults had a blast on the cruise also...not just for kids! I would love to go on one again.

My husband and I are planning a Disney trip and we did think about the cruise since we love cruises, but we decided to Disney World first. You should know, however, that if your 15 mth is not potty trained, he cannot go into the pools, even with a swim diaper. This is misleading because it says that the Mickey pool is designed for kids 3 months to 3 years, but at the bottom of the page it then goes on to say that the pools are only for children who are potty trained and those that are not can enjoy the "splash zone" next to the pool. Just something to think about. It would be terrible to have to tell your one child he can't go swimming while all his siblings are.

Edit: I was trying to send you the link, but it won't post for some reason. If you go on the Disney cruise site and look up Mickey's Pool, you'll be able to read about the restrictions.

I will be interested to see the responses! We're trying to decide the same thing. Our boys will be 4 and 6 when we go in October. One week we're into one -and the next week the other! I've done the numbers several times, and it's almost exactly the same amount of money.
