I Need HELP Please If You Are Not on Overload I Would APPRECIATE It!!

I have been a SAHM for 5 years and prior taught first grade for 6 years. SO needless to say I have been out of college for 11 years. I have decided I don't want to go back into full-time teaching because I want to have time to come home and focus on my girls after a full day of work and not bring home work or stress with me. I decided I would either full time sub in a district so that I can leave the responsibilities in the classroom when I leave or become a Child Life Specialist in a hospital. I would prefer the later of the two so I am working on my Masters in Early Childhood Education.
Anyways I have been doing pretty well for my first time back taking 3 courses and being a mom, wife, homemaker and all the other hats we mom's wear. But recently the workload has become crazy with trying to keep up the research, reading and writing.
Here is where the help would be greatly appreciated if you have a few minutes. I need to find some journal articles within the last 10 years that support my 3---20 page final papers. Having some articles to just read and use in the paper would help me greatly to not have to search for them too. I am a hard worker, have gotten 4/3 on all my assignments thus far but I am currently on overload and wondering if anyone can help. If you are willing please PM and I will give you the topics I have to write on. Thanks in advance :)

Hey, not much help here, but wanted to wish you luck--going back to school must be crazy hard with kids and work...
Anyways, my only suggestion is to try Google Scholar!

Hi Luv-

What I may be able to offer are some 'insights' on families with children who are hospitalized LONG TERM...and experiences in the home environment (both good and bad) with child life specialists...

Several nurses that worked with our family 'incorporated' some of our experiences into papers they were writing (bachelor or master degrees).

If this could be helpful...send me a 'private'!

Best Luck!

I can't help you with your papers but I wanted to tell you that my son was in the hospital for 5 days and a Child Life Specialist visited him... and I remember thinking what a wonderful & rewarding job that must be. Bringing some joy & fun into the lives of children who are going through scary stuff... kudos to you!~B

I second Suzie. Librarians LOVE to do this. It will make their day! They also will understand what you are wanting and will actually know how to research it rather than stabbing in the dark with Google~ unlike me, giggle!

Sorry - bad humor!

Let us know how this pans out! And good luck on your classes!

Do you mean academic journals? Your university library should have an online database that takes very little time to search. You can usually indicate whether you want to access only full text online articles, or just the abstracts. Please contact your university library, this is exactly what they are there to help with, and good luck.

I'm sorry - I'd help, but don't think I'd even know how to begin. : (

I will send positive thoughts your way, that you are able to accomplish what you need to. Kudos to you for taking all this on!

Blessings.

I agree with those who said to go through your college's library. Students should have access to online databases of scholarly journals. Having been out of school way too long myself, I can't immediately recall the names, but I want to say JSTOR is one, and there are others as well. It makes it much, much easier to find journal articles, and you are guaranteed to have legitimate sources.

Agree with the librarian advice. However, my university had an online data base that you could use. I would search for journal articles in my jammies after the kids were in bed.

What school are you at? Have a look at the website and see if they offer access. Usually, all you need is your student number and you can get in. Riley brings up a good point: do they need to be peer reviewed? I just finished my master's degree and we were not allowed to use anything that was not peer reviewed.

Good luck to you! I KNOW how hard you are working right now! You can do it!

Your uni library should have a librarian specifically for your major. That said, he/she will be your best friend in the resource department. I used mine to no end when I was trying to find books and articles on my thesis topic.
