I Need a Good Hair Cut!!! Can Anyone Help?

I got my haircut a few months back by a lady that was referred to me. It was her very last haircut of the day, so she rushed and did a lousy job to say the least. If she didn't want to cut my hair at that time, she shouldn't have scheduled me for that time. There was no shape to my hair, she didn't style it and it cost me 40 dollars before the tip, although I shouldn't have tipped her. I expect for a 40 dollar haircut, I should walk out of the salon looking like a million bucks!! I got my haircut and highlighted from a girl in California for 40 dollars granted she was my friend, so she did everything at cost, but still! I also went to her co-worker once, who wasn't my friend because she couldn't get me in and he only charged 60 for a cut and highlight. Again, that was in California, where the cost of living is way more expensive. I couldn't believe that a haircut could be such a rip off here in Colorado. I went to Fantastic Sams once, before my last haircut and got my haircut and my highlights dyed over and it cost me 75 dollars by the time I tipped her. I thought Fantastic Sams was supposed to be a cheap place? I guess I was wrong. It seems like sylist don't even take time for you anymore. They just rush through person to person to rack up as much money as possible. Even in Arizona, I got a good haircut for 25 dollars. Anyway, sorry to rant, but I am just so frusturated! Do any of you have a good hairsylist that does a good job for a descent price? I would really appreciate any refferals! Thanks so much!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all the recommendations! I am sure I will get a great haircut next time. Don't get me wrong, I like Colorado (other than missing the beach), but I am just frusturated that I can't find anyone to do a good job on my hair. Hopefully with all your help, I will be able to find someone now. I also don't mind spending a little more on my hair, but only if they do a fabulous job. What's the point of paying 60 dollars when it just turns out the same as the 20 dollar ones, you know what I mean? Anyway, thanks again!

Bree at Salon Tao in Broomfield is Awesome. I came from San Diego where I loved my stylist and it took me a long time to finally find someone I really love. A haircut is $40. I have been to so many places here in Boulder/Denver area and am so happy to have found Bree. I have referred many friends who have also been very happy with her cuts! Salon Tao is also up for Denver 7s A List Award

Hi Tina. I moved to Erie CO last year from New Jersey and had a terrible time finding a good salon & stylist. After a year of bad experiences, I found a WONDERFUL salon in Erie on HWY 7 called DeMaj Salon. Their prices are not cheap, but all of the stylists there are very good. I believe the cost of a haircut is around $40 but you get what you pay for. I have had 4 appointments with them to date and have been happy with every cut & color. I highly recommend them. They are conveniently located off of I-25 and you can checkout their website at www.demajsalon.com. I go to the owner, Dusty. If you decide to try them out, let them know that A. Talley referred you. You will not be disappointed! Good luck!

Jason Schwind at Vain in Denver (1890 Pennsylvania) ###-###-####. I think his haircut is $65, but well worth it. He does a FABULOUS job. Color is more--I'm not sure what he charges. He will do bang trims for free. He teaches other stylists at shows around the country. He is VERY good. I can make it about 4-5 months between cuts with the free bang trim. My style is a about shoulder length so I can get away with a longer time between visits, but only because he does such a good job. I highly recommend him!! ~Cindi Crowder

I don't know where you're getting your hair cut for that cheap. Consider yourself lucky. There is a beauty school near you on 88th. It's called Regency beauty institute, the phone number is ###-###-####. The price will be cheaper, but because they are students it might take a little longer.

I usually pay between $100-$150 for a cut and multicolor highlight. My sister lives in AZ and pays over $100 as well. Some things you shouldn't go cheap on. Try the school, one of my friends was a student there. She did a cut and color for me and I think it was closer to $60. She graduated, but I think it's a good school, and the students that work on you are close to graduation.

Good Luck!

I go to the Hot Look on 120th and Washington. Personally, I go to Amy. I have been going to her for about 5 years now and she does EXACTLY what you want her to do (the first time I have ever had that happen). She is also great about suggesting what would look good/what wouldn't with your hair/face shape, etc. She only charges $25 and I would recommend her to everyone I know. You are welcome to contact me offline for her direct phone number.

Best of luck.

Hi T.,

I am so sorry to hear that you got a bad hair cut and it has turned you off on Colorado. Colorado isnt all that bad really. Give it some time and you will like it here. I too moved here from California about 16 yrs ago and I hated it at first. But now I cant see being anyplace else I defiantly wouldnt move back to California. There are to many people out there. LOL
Anyway I go to a girl named Laurie Gustafson. She is down by Park Meadows Mall, but the drive is worth it. I live in Westminster and I wouldnt go any place else. My entire family and now a few friends go to her. I trust her so much that I go in tell her just do it and she does, I love the end results. Her number is ###-###-####. She works at a top notch salon. You will love it once you walk in there. It is called Solera Salon. Good Luck!

I just can't justify spending much money on my hair, so I've always been a Cost Cutters fan. I go to a stylist named Louise at the 104th and Federal location. The stylists at CC don't work on commission so I've found most are more willing to take their time if the salon isn't busy.

You might like Jaricia, approx 120th & Federal, who does cuts in her own home for $10 (may have gone up lately). Email me offlist for her number. She's fun and does eyebrows for free if you get a haircut. Also there's a gal at Hollywood Salon (approx 94th & Wads Blvd) that I really liked but too hard to get an appointment...

We recently used Floyd's Barbershop, near Target in Westminster (Church Ranch & US 36th vicinity), just because it's closer and they take walk-ins. $20 for cut, includes neck/upper back massage afterwards, which I love.

They tend to leave bangs long (I suspect so you'll come back sooner), but I've liked the 3 otherwise careful, conscientious cuts I've gotten there. My teen son gives it mixed reviews - one cut he hated - but then he doesn't give them clear directions, and he had different stylist than I did. (His was male stylist, both of mine were women sytlists.)

Finding a good stylist is hard. If you find a good one, often they get so busy you can't ever get an appointment, plus their rates go up, or they leave to open up their own shop somewhere far away, or they develop allergies to all the chemicals, and have to quit. It's a transition job for many.

Hope this helps,
-B.

I was referred to Appearances in Bradburn Village in Westminster by a friend. I, too moved to Colorado ( we live in Thornton)from Northern California in November 2007 and had a great hairdresser in California( at a Regis salon and she only charged me $33). I have had three haircuts at appearances and have been very pleased( I have short VERY thick wavy hair that I am growing out). I see Summer there and she charges me $50- well worth it. She is pregnant and due right before Xmas so I am not sure when she is going on maternity leave.

Another friend told me to try Bob at Head to Toe at Mission Trace shopping center at 120th and Colorado. She has been going to him for 7 years and loves him and he charges $40.

Hope you are liking Colorado- we love it! Good luck!
