So I so so excited to get my new crock pot and not that I do I don't know what to make in it I want to make a pot roast but can't find a good recipe, and then I don't know what else to cook in it. My husband comes home from Iraq in August and I would like to know some recipes before he comes home so I can cook for him, I'm sure he could use some good homemade food. Do any of you ladies know some good recipes you could share with me? Thank you in advance if you do.

What can I do next?

You can make alot of things with your crock pot. I have made pot roast, turkey and tenderloins. You can get some really good recipes from foodnetwork.com When I make my pot roast I use a bottle of coke for the liquid. Put the meat in the crock pot and pour the coke in until there is about an inch of liquid. I use about a teaspoon each of minced garlic, minced onion, cilantro, itialian seasoning, parsley, pepper and oregano. I also use a packet of McCormick pot roast seasoning. I then add the potatoes, onion wedges and carrots, celery optional. I put the lid on and cook it on low for 8 to 10 hours. A friend of mine does the same thing except she experiments with the liquid. I have known her to use kool-aid or Dr. Pepper, whatever pops in her head. I hope this helps.

Hi M.,

I don't have any recipes because I only make corned beef and roast in the crock pot. Not too adventerous! I know they have cook books dedicated to the crock pot. You might find one on amazon.com.

What I really wanted to say was that I admire you. My hubby is out of town for work three weeks a month and I thought I had it hard. I don't think I could hold it together long enough for my hubby to be in Iraq. WAY TO GO!!!

There's a GREAT cookbook for slow cookers called Fix and Forget It. Almost every single recipe is easy and fantastic. No strange ingredients and lots of variety. It's usually spiral bound and costs around $12. I've seen them at Sam's Club and Costco, but I'm not sure how recently. It seems they are fairly easy to find around town. Happy cooking! I LOVE my slow cooker.
