I Feel like I'm Falling Apart!

I was wondering if anyone had complications from getting their tubes cut/tied and burned? Since I've had mine done, I've ended up having to have an edometrial ablation to stop the illregular bleeding I had after my surgery (which I never had before)June 18th will make 3 years since I had my last child and the last 4-8 weeks, my breast have been leaking what looks like colostrum and I've gained 80lbs. The doctor did a prolactin level and a thyroid test and they both came back within normal range so I'm just wondering what else it could be. They said I should have no complications afterwards but my health has been a huge mess since. Anyone else out there having these problems? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I just had an endoscope and colonscopy done on Nov. 8th and they did a pregnancy test and it was negative. That's why I'm kinda lost. I couldn't take birth control and because of the way my cervix was, I couldn't have some of the other options, that's why I opted to have a tubal ligation. I would rather be pregnant every couple of years instead of dealing with all this.

Hi J.,

Sometimes Doctors aren't accurate and I think you should seek another opinion until someone hears you and helps you. Listen to your "gut instinct". You know when something isn't right about your own body. Try seeking a specialized Doctor, maybe OBGYN-Judy Zacher is good, I found her recently, she is thorough and caring for women. Office is called "Women caring for Women" at the new Dupont location.

I had the same problem as you and was also treated, however, my problems worsened a couple of months later. I ended up with two weeks of heavy bleeding that didn't stop until the doctor prescribed special pills to stop the bleeding. It's not known if the heavy bleeding was caused from having my tubes tied, a fibroid tumor, pre-menopause, or some other source. I strongly suspect it was from having my tubes tied and as a result, I regret it. Since I didn't want to have a hysterectomy, I ended up taking the pill (defeating the purpose of having my tubes tied)and will stay on them until I reach menopause (which will be difficult to tell while on the pill). While I didn't endure any cramping in the past, the heavy and prolonged bleeding was an awful experience that I don't ever want to repeat again. By the way, the heavy and prolonged bleeding didn't begin right after being sterilized, but started about 2 or 3 years later.

I would have to agree that you may be pregnant. My mother had her tubes tied and got pregnant 11 years later. What a huge suprise. Go have a test and find out for sure. Good luck!

I hate to say it love, but you may be pregnant again. It's not unherad of for a woman who's had the surgery. For some rason the surgery isn't as reliable as the male procedure. I would get tested as soon as possible, if I were you.

Go into your search bar and type in complications of tubal ligation. Then check some of the sites. From what I've seen, it can actually make you go into premature menapaus. I got mine done about 15 months ago and when I get my period, sometimes it comes early, sometimes late, some times extremely heavy, sometimes really light, sometimes more than 7 days some times only 3 days. Before the tubal, I would get a medium flow that lasted 5 days and started the morning of the 28th day without fail you could set your watch to it. I get sharp stabbing pains around the overies at times too. Most of my symptoms seem to have gone unless i'm just so busy that I don't notice anymore, but for a while I was showing menapausal like symptoms. Try to talk to a doctor about it and they'll say it's nothing.

Have them check your pituitary gland if you are producing milk again. Not sure if it's related to the tubal but I'd look at it for sure!
Were you on the pill before your tubal? They say that many women have bleeding issues they never had before because they are now no longer on the pill(or other hormonal birth control) and not really b/c of the tubal itself. Just a thought.

I have had the leaking from the breast. Your hormones are out of wrack basicly. It has happened to several others I met after getting their tubes cut and tied. Hormones control alot of other body functions. I know a couple of people who went on birth control pills to get theirs under control.

Congradulations on your marriage - I been married now 18 months to the love of my life. I'm a mother of 2 boys and 3 girls - he has 2 of his own. And yes for anyone who wonders combining families can work. I hope this may help you.

Hello J. , I got my tubes tied after baby #4 it was back in 05 and after I had that done it was like my body was falling apart, Before I had my tubes tied I was on a normal monthly cycle and would start on time every month about the same time, Now I start my cycle and could be back on two weeks later. I have four periods in 2 months. I have this uncontrolable pain right before I would start my period and I am down for the count and with 4 kids and a husband that is not possible so I had to deal with well it has been almost 3 years and have talk to my doctor many of time and they have know answers in what to do. I have been worried since I had this done the day I went into have my check up after my tubes were tied I met 4 yes 4 different women that were pregnant with there tubes tied. I was also told it is a 2 out of 1000 chance of getting pregnant that is 1 out of 500. It would be my luck I would have to agree that this was a huge regret. Just because all of the problems I have had. I hope everything get better

I'm a 23 y/o female who is having a similar problem. I had my tubes tied after baby #2 (I was 22 at the time and knew w/o a doubt I did NOT want another after the complications with both pregnancies). I had irregular periods prior to having both kids and going on the pill and would skip several months before finally getting my period which would only last 2-3 days but I would clot pretty badly when I did finally get it. I've heard that because I am a natural redhead that we have a tendency to clot so no physician I've seen has ever made a big deal out of it. After my second pregnancy and the requisite bleeding of 6 weeks I stopped bleeding for about 2-3 months before the dam broke loose. When my period finally started I clotted heavily and my period would be heavy for a few days then end for a day or two start back up for a few then end and then continued that way for about 5 months before I finally called my OB for an appointment. His solution...birth control. Well the purpose of getting my tubes tied was to not take a pill every day but he explained it would only be for 6 months because I wasn't ovulating (uhh?) and it would get me back on track. Well that has been about a year now. I'm off the pill and my periods are not somewhat more regular but I am still clotting more heavily than I ever have. He has suggested the ablation if my problems continue but I don't want to make an already bad problem worse. Do you mind if I ask who your doctor is?

i had it done in 2003, a year after i had my daughter. since i had ridiculously heavy periods, which according to my doc isn't a side affect but according to everyone else i've talked to that's had the procedure done, it is. but i also have severe ovarian pain that my ob gyn can't seem to figure out. it's been since almost right after i got my tubes tied but we can't seem to explain or stop it.
