I Could Use Some Ideas for a Photo Book I'm Putting Together for My Parents! ;-)

For Christmas, I'm creating a photo book for my parents. I'd sure love to hear any ideas or suggestions from everyone.

I'm having my kids, my sisters and my nieces and nephews all write a letter to each of them and then will put each letter into a scrapbook - The letter on one side and a photo of the person who wrote it on the other side.

ANY OTHER IDEAS?? Please email them to me: My email address is: ____@____.com

Thanks so much!
Gail

We did an alphabet theme for ours. A is for apple picking... B is for beach.... C is for Christmas.... D is for dancing. Use your own words based on what photos you have.

I'll give you my ideas on here. For Christmas 2007 my sisters and I did a scrap book for our parents. I did a section of it of just me growing up and they did a section of it of themselves growing up. It was sort of a tribute to them for a job well done so to speak. It was all very personable and they really seemed to like it a lot.

The letter idea is a great idea. They could also add pics that are meaningful to them for your parents. Have them make a list of all the things they are thankful for because of your parents.

I think what you are doing is wonderful. It'll have more meaning than some store bought item. Best advice I could give is just to pour some love in it.

We make photo books from costco or walmart on line and have them printed with glossy pages and hard cover. instead of scrap book style. You can add captions, text or scan in anything I suppose, even letters. It looks really great.

You could find some old pictures of your parents to include in the book. You could include some group pictures -
one of you and your sisters when you were little and one of you now
one of each of the families ie your sister, her hubby and her kids
all of the grandchildren together

Last year my sister and I did a book for our parents with their 3 grandchildren. For each child we did 1st time each grandparent held the baby, first car ride home, first bday, etc.

This year I'm doing frames with the kids' 3, 6, 9, and 12 month pics (4 photos per frame, 1 frame for each child).

You might want to put in a baby picture of each child or a picture of the child with the grandparent(s). Any large group family photo or each household as a group might be nice.

The last few Christmases I have put together a digital family photo album. In the first few books I chose nice quotes, some famous, some less well known. Last year, I put all quotes that my two kids said throughout the year. Thanks to Facebook, I had many of them written down. It was a real hit and a fun read to go along with the pictures.
