Hi ladies, okay I have just had it!!! I know this is going to sound very vain, and I apoligize if I offend any one. My daughter is 3, and I STILL have my belly pouch, which looks really odd b/c I am only a size 4. Before I got prego I was size 1 or 2, and had a naturally toned and great figure. I weighed like 98 pds {i am only 5ft tall} I gained like 50 pds with my daughter and lost almost all of 10 pds, but I cannot shake this belly! It is so horrible, Not so bad when I am standing but when I sit it feels like jelly!! I have tried sit ups gallore!! Nothing seems to work!! I don't understand most women I see who have 3 kids and are bigger than me do not have this belly!! Last w/end I was at a party w/ my husband and I wore this shirt that tied in the back, and someone said oh, when are you due!!! I was like I am not pregnant!!! I will be trying for another baby in the summer b/c we want a spring baby, but I want to try and get this a little under control before so that I do not make it 10 times worse with my next child. I was so spoiled with my body pre prego, and now I just do not know what to do. My husband loves me to death, and would never say anything, he tells me how great I look, but I have noticed him gaining weight and not caring, and I can't help but wonder if it is b/c he looks at me and says what the hell. I want to look like I did, or at least be able to sit down w/out wondering if my belly is hanging down!!! Any suggestions would be great, I did have a c-section, not sure if thats why???

What can I do next?

Hi Amy~

I have to agree with Kelly, I don't think your pouch is going anywhere. I have 3 boys the oldest is 8 the youngest is 9.5 months. Had a c-section with the first one....I have a pouch and it's not going anywhere. I've lost weight and still trying to lose more but I know the pouch is staying, no way around it unless I have cosmetic surgery. Which there's no way I can afford. lol I look at it this way...that pouch gave me 3 of the most precious gifts ever.....my boys!! Oh and my husband has gained weight over the years also but I think it's more from being comfortable in the relationship and feeling content. That pouch is a reminder of the precious gift you have...your daughter.

I have a 12 month old and have the same problem. I gained 50lbs. and now weigh less than I did before I had her but I STILL have that extra skin. In my oppinion, I don't want to look at my belly and see the reminder of my daughter. I have HER for that. I see her 24/7. I gave birth naturally. I wear jeans that hide my belly and make my belly look flat. Everybody says, "but you're so thin!" when in reality I'm just really good at hiding it. There are women out there who have great bodies after having babies and I want one of them to tell me how they did it! I was told to do crunches. There's a great work out On Demand called quick workouts for your bas. It takes 10 min. and is SO worth it. Since I've started doing it I have seen a little bit of a difference. GOOD LUCK!!

I know this is an old question...however, try doing plank excercises... go to youtube.com and search and people have videos posted. It wont work over night, but hey anything is better than not trying at all :)

Hi Amy,
I would try windsor pilates and or tae-bo with billy blanks they both target the core muscles in your body and give you tons of energy. I have a 3 1/2 year old boy and expecting another boy in about a week and I can't wait to get back in to my work out routine because with both of those I saw results when I was dedicated. Of course I am just gorging myself now in the final days and feel like Shamu when i look in the mirror but I know it is only temporary. I am no where near or have ever been near your small size but I know what is i like to not like something on your body and I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to change it. Good luck with everything.

It's not fat as much as it is muscle that can't be toned properly due to the surgical cuts. Most peoples' muscles will reconnect, but with some it doesn't heal correctly. I am one of those people; I have not had a c-section but other surgeries have left me without muscle tone in other areas.

I would wait until you are done having kids of your own, but consider a tummy tuck. You will never have great tone again and another surgery won't help that, but you could get rid of the pouch if it really bothers you. Get a good physician to help consult with you.

As far as hubby gaining weight and not caring--doen't have much to do with YOUR physique. He just being a normal hetero guy. ;)

sorry to tell ya but seems like that pouch may be staying with ya. every body is different and sice you say you were so small and gained 50 pounds with your daughter. your skin probably stretched so much it is extar skin left over and no matter how many sit ups you do it may stay with you. you should love your body no matter what and look at it as a blessing that you carried such a wonderful gift and gave life to your beautiful daughter.

It might be due to your skin being stretched from pregnancy. I have the same problem, so I feel your pain. Unfortunately, if it is loose skin, there is really nothing you can do besides surgery, and that is no picnic. Sorry I don't have any better advice, maybe someone else will.
