My husbands awful snoring!!! I cant take it!!! I am up seriously like all night. I cant sleep on the couch because i am pregnant and VERY uncomfortable even lying in my own bed let alone the couch. I have to sleep with 2 fans on high blast for the noise just to drown out his snoring, and even that doesnt come close. I work 8 hour days, sometimes more, and come home to my beautiful 15 month old girl. I barely get any sleep because his snoring is really bad. I need your help moms. Is there anything i can do? Unfortunately he doesnt have any medical insurance because of the current economic standings so surgery or that procedure is not an option. Is there anything i can do?????? I NEED SLEEP!!!!
Thanks mamas :o)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First off i wanted to thank you gals for your responses. There's a couple things though as i was reading your responses that i forgot to add. We've tried the breathing strips lol-they dont work. I push him over on his side almost every night to face away from me and he always ends up on his back like a few minutes later. I am also afraid to do the ear plugs because im afraid i wouldnt hear my daughter if she wakes up at night. I've heard about the sprays and i wouldnt mind trying that. Also, there were these pills i saw at the supermarket that i was gonna have him try too. Do you know the names of any throat sprays or anything else? TIA..

Hi N.:
I can feel your pain. I live with a snorer to!! You can try some of the strips some of the other mothers have suggested, but I wouldn't go with ear plugs,as I'm sure you fear not hearing your little girl,if she wakes and needs you.I would tape him,and let him hear just how bad his snoring is.My husband thought I was exagerating. He thought i was just nic- picking.Tell him, that this is going to ultimately create health problems for you. Your pregnant and you work, and you need your sleep. Wether he sets up a bed in another room, temporarily or sets up the sofa,he needs to help you get some needed sleep.I wish you(sweet dreams) J. M

I hear the wax ear plugs are pretty good for blocking snoring. You might also have him try the breathe right strips or a different sleep position -maybe on his side facing away from you. I have also seen some OTC sprays that could be helpful?? Maybe he can sleep on the couch for a little while...

My Son's father used to call hogs, too. Get him some breate right strips. He has a constricted nasal airway, so he rerouts his breathing through the mouth which then it's self becomes constricted as a defense machanism against foreign particles causing the awful noise when he breathes through the mouth.
That should take care of it, if you haven't taken care of it already.

Couple things to try . . . Niel Med nasal rinse, it feels funny, but after a couple days of rinsing, my husband was nearly snore free. Those nasal strips that attach to the outside and open the nasal passages. A mouth guard, some snoring is caused when the jaw relaxes and a mouth guard (can even be a sports guard) can help keep the jaw aligned. Sweet dreams.

Breathe Right strips, the clear ones don't pull skin off..from what my husband says. There is also a Breathe Right spray he uses when the snoring is really bad. Mostly I don't let him sleep on his back...and when he keeps ME awake, I get him awake to turn over....

try the nose strips, theres a liquid med thats sold in stores, a mouth gaurd that pulls the jaw forward. also one thing that could help is asking him to goto the dr to be evaluated. this could be a minor case of sleep apnia (spelling lol?). i hope this is helpful to you and your husband.

I hear the nasal strips work well. My BIL uses them. My hubby had the apnea surgery and he still snores. So far he has been too stubborn to try the strips, but the snoring doesn't bother me.

Hi! I couldn't help but respond to your request even though you've already received great advice. But, I live with a snorer too and when I was pregnant it was very hard to get a good night sleep as it was...then his snoring!!!!(he tried the breathe right strips too) I solved the problem very easily....I made HIM sleep on the couch! lol...he was gracious enough to do so for the last couple of months of my pregnancy. There you have it...problem solved! :) I hope you are able to get some good rest! Congrats & Good Luck with your new addition to your family!

Hi..my husband snores worse than anyone in THIS WORLD!! He is notorious for it and everyone who knows him knows. He can make the neighbors wake up. Having said that, I have discovered with the help of my in-laws a wonderful product called EAR PLUGS!! They are pink...I'm sorry, but the name escapes me, but they are 32DB reduction. My baby is 17 months old and I can still hear her on the baby monitor, but still have a GREAT night's rest! I know it sounds a little odd and I must say it was weird at first, but now I can't LIVE without them. I take them everywhere with me especially if we're out of town. Hope this helps! I feel for you though! :)

Chances are he isn't actually sleeping well eaither though it sound like he might be. I'm not sure how much it is out of pocket, but have him tested for sleep apnia. He may qualify for a c-pap machine. Sleep apnia can be dangerous, so as soon as you can afford it, look into it. My hubby has the c-pap and sleeps like a baby. No more snoring and his health/sleeping is much better. I actually miss his snoring though.
My dad had the surgery and it didn't work. He's also stubborn and won't sleep with his c-pap. My mom just bought BOSE headphones to wear with earplugs for when they travel.
