I Am Looking for Advice on Best Diaper Cream

I found that my little girls both girls when they were little had sensitive bottoms and I tried EVERYThING and the ONLY thing that work was the Strait ZINC OXIDE at Walgreens. That is the only place I could find it and it is not in the baby section. You have to ask at the counter! It comes in a blue tube and it works great and heals the bottom too!
I hope this works. I think the fragrance was a problem with the other products too!

I use Arbonne baby line for my little girl. Their products are free of chemicals, perfumes, dyes and other ingredients that cause sensitvity. I love the products so much that I became a consultant. Let me know if you want to learn more. I could send you a sample.

I hope your iThere's a prescription one that I used for my daughter and it worked wonders over any OTC one I used. You can only get it at the pharmacy in the Southdale Medical Building on France Ave next the the hospital. It's called Poop Goop.

Hi J. - The best stuff on the market is called Triple Paste. I have only found it at Walgreen's, but I can tell you nothing else without a perscription works as well. It is more expensive, but works miracles.

Well, I see everyone one seems to have their own favorites :-) I will add mine to the mix. I have been using cloth diapers since day one w/my baby, and as a result have never really had any bad rashes w/her. I was told that Bert's Bees diaper ointment was the best to use with cloth diapers, because it doesn't stain the cotton, so it's the only thing I've used. My gal has eczema (head only) and seems to have somewhat sensitive skin too. So, granted I've never had much "bad" rash w/her, nevertheless whatever pink/red I've ever seen has been IMMEDIATELY cleared up with Bert's Bees. You can find it in any healthfood store, Byerly's, or many specialty baby shops such as Peapods. Good luck!

Two things:

1)We've always had luck with Balmex. My son has never ended up with any major rash. I's pretty good at stopping the rash over night when you notice it getting red. It's nice and thick and covers. I think there's also something out there called A&D..it's not a cream it's more of like a vasiline texture....if you're looking for a preventitive it should do a pretty good job of making a barier between his little bottom and the wet diaper.

2)My daycare lady advises against desitin creamy...she says there's something in it that when the diaper rash starts it stings their little bottoms

I have tried a lot of different ones and found the best thing is plain vaseline.

I too like the Bert's Bees products. I also like Weleda products, they're from Germany. I use both their zinc oxide diaper cream and their caledula baby cream on my son. He gets really bad diaper rash from time to time, he also has eczema as do I. These are natural products with no petrochemicals and synthetic preservatives. You can find them at Natural Food Co-ops or Whole Foods and other places like that.

My daughter has extremely sensitive skin as well she has eczema. When she was in diapers I use to put desatin on her bottom the min. she was pink or red down there I never waited til it turned into a rash or I was in real trouble. If you have to put diaper rash cream on once a day even if there's no problem more as a preventative than do it. My daughter is potty trained now and still gets irritated and dry on her bottom so in the winter especially after a bath I put vaseline or eucerin cream on her bottom and put her undies on over night and by morning she's smooth like a newborn.

Yes! Baby Aquaphor, its made by Eucerin and its awesome. It is great for preventing diaper rash, but also has several other uses. Dry patches, eczema, and lots of other things as well. You can get it at Walgreens and some Target stores have it too. Just be sure is says "Baby" on it, as it is made for adults as well.

I use aveeno diaper rash cream...works great

We got this recipe from a friend and it is FANTASTIC! It works sometimes in as little as one time - but usually within a day or two. The recipe has been run by a doctor and he said that it's an amazing mixture and it's fine to use - even on boys.

1 Tube Hydrocortizone

1 Tube Desitin

1 Tube Aquaphor

1 Tube Monistat Vaginal Anti-fungal creme

We use the generic versions of the above ingredients and they work just fine.

Mix equal portions of each (you don't need to use the whole tube at once). Not sure if it has to be refrigerated, but I know it helps my son when it's cold - it provides soothing relief.

I would ask your doctor about "poop goop"-we get it at Park Nicollet-not sure if it is an in house name or what, but it is actually called "poop goop"-it works FANTASTICALLY! It's a great barrier and heals up any redness within a day! If you're just looking at preventing diaper rash we have used Welena-you can get it at natural foods stores-I know for sure whole foods carries it. I've been really happy with it, but when there is a badddd rash-we use poop goop.

My little guy also has a tendency to dry skin, rashes and ezema. I always use poweder when changing my sons diaper. They don't like powder in his daycare, so he sometimesw gets a rash after being there. For a red bum I use a cream containg zink. My mother did that for five children and it works wonders for me as well. She sends it to me from abroad, but I am sure you can by a cream conating zink in the US as well.

Butt Paste available at Target, for sure. I've used it on all kinds of rashes, it washes off really easy. Until last year (or so), it was only available by prescription. I've used it on rashes in other parts of the body, too, and it worked like magic!
