A little about me. I have has Endometriosis all my life and have had surgery 12 times. I now have two girls (4 & 22 mon.) and my tubes are tied at 36 years old. My Endometriosis is back once again and I have been given the options of a Hysterectomy or Endometrial ablation. A Hysterectomy would take care of everything so that I would not have problems anymore. The down side is I am out 6 weeks and 4 of those weeks I will not be able to pick up my kids, which as you know is very hard not to do. The ablation is non evasive and I would be up and able to do everything that day. The downside is that I would have a chance to get my Endometriosis back within 6 months. I am not worried about the surgery at ALL. I just hate that I cant pick up my own children. They say it is a lot like a c-section which I had with both children but I was picking them both up after a week. I dont know I am torn. Does anyone have any thoughts? thanks!

Hi,
Let me preface by saying I am not a health professional or have any first had experience with bad endometriosis.
But, I do eat a mostly vegetarian diet after I read Dr McDougall's book. I saw recently on his website the following article. I hope it will help you.

Hello!
I am so sorry ! I have had endometriosis so I know how you feel. I did not have insurance so I overcame this the natural way.
THere were many steps: You have to go to sleep by 10. Going to be later makes hormonal imbalance. Sitting for long periods of time is not good. I used progesterone cream from Dr. Helen Pensanti at wwwaskdrhelen.com. Reading books on this subject helped me. I read books by Dr. Lee on women's health, and the bad effects of too much estrogen . Other ladies in other countries do not suffer with this the way that American women do.
I started cutting back on dairy and got dairy products from Braums which does not use synthetic hormones at their farms.
Being very careful the week before my period helped a lot.
THere are doctors who treat this naturally.
There is Mr. Michael Sullivan of Tiena Health Clinic 972.443,5300.in Irving, Tx(in or near Las Colinas area). He does hormonal testing and gives progesterone /estrogen balanced prescriptions. He uses other tests besides blood tests to check hormone levels(saliva).I had hundreds of dollars worth ofblood tests and although I lost half my hemoglobin blood count, doctors could never find anything wrong on my blood tests !
A women's body naturally loses progesterone hormone with age and this is the good hormone that regulates us.
It is a process. I made it through. It got progressively better and better for me. I no longer have this problem.I did wear Depends on certain days so that I could cope outside my home.
Antibiotics did help.Soy, black cohash , dong quai did not help me as they increased estrogen at times.
Soy is in some protein bars and drink.Primrose is said to help with emotions. I love fish oil It helps with my emotions. No sugar( kills vitamin C). Eating natural with organic fruits and vegetables. Chemicals give off estrogen.
Cooking with plastic in the microwave does also. Stay away from caffeine , sodas(cokes)and chocolate. Sodas leech out calcium.
Several recommended gynecologists suggested blood transfusion for me and hysterectomy.
I am not saying that this is what you should do. I am saying that this is what I did and it did work.
Whatever treatment you choose, I pray God's blessings on you and your family! I am so happy that you already have children!
Blessings!
Sincerely,
C. Nelson

I had the ablation 7 years ago and it was the best thing ever! My alternative was a partial hyst. - I had just had my last child 5 months prior. I opted for the less invasive and have never had any problems.
Good luck in whichever you do!

I too, suffered through the exact same situation. I opted for the hysterectomy, though it was done laparoscopically. I don't know if this is an option for you. I had mine on a Wednesday, was out dancing on Saturday, and back at work on Monday...less than a week later. No pain, no nothing unless I got up from a seated position really fast. Maybe you should ask your doctor if this is an option for you. Granted, I couldn't pick up anything heavy for six weeks, but you can still HOLD your kids - you just have to sit down first!!

I had an ablation because I had EXTREMELY heavy bleeding and cramps. It has so solved the bleeding as I haven't had a period since it was done, but honestly I still get the pain of ovulation. I have cysts. If I had to do it over again I would do the hysterctomy, because I only got rid of half of my problem. But the ablation was extremely easy and almost no recovery time.

Have you had an endometrial ablation before? The reason I ask is a friend of mine had an ablation, and was told she would not be able to get pregnant at all. Well, she went to a shotty doctor, who forgot to tell her that she SHOULD not get pregnant, not that she COULD not get pregnant. Well, here we are 4 years later, and she is 8 months pregnant, and has thankfully had no problems. She is now going to my doctor, who informed her that he does not perform and endometrial ablation without performing a tubal ligation. The reason for this, is if you get pregnant after the ablation, it is very high risk of the placenta detaching from the uterine wall and miscarrying, at any point in the pregnancy. I would think long and hard before making any decisions at all. Also, there is a third option to help with the endometriosis which is not permanent. I myself have had 8 abdominal surgerys, so I understand your dilema. I used Lupron twice to buy me time before having to make a permanent decision. Lupron is a shot that puts you into menopause. It lasts for 6 months. It worked wonders for me, plus no cycles during that time! If you would like a second opinion, please consult my OB/GYN. His name is Dr. Darrell Jordan. He is out of Medical City in Dallas. I have been seeing him for 11 years now, so I can tell you he is absolutely wonderful, and he does not believe in performing radical procedures unless it is last resort. Here is his contact info http://cgi.photobooks.com/scripts/troll.cgi?dbase=mcdalla.... Please private message me if y ou have any questions.

Hi sweetie, I am a mother of four two natural two step. I am 27 yoa and I just had a Hysterectomy in Sept. I had the laprascopy sirgery once and like you I got my endometreosis back within six months. My life was horrible I couldn't do anything. I went to two specialist and both of them said that my endometroesis was in my uterus wall and not in the actual uterus so which the ablation or any other kind of surgery would work. My youngest kiddo was 2 and Myrecovery was like yours. I was suppose to be down for 6 wks and not lift anything more than 10 pounds first week 20 pounds there after. I had my surgery on a Monday and by Thursday I felt great now this could just be me but I have a few other girlfriends that were the same way. If I was you I would get it over with If you have help call them in to help with recovery but I was also able to go back to full duty by four weeks so if you are determined you could have a shorter recovery I went to Dr Lux in Garland, if you want I can give you his number he was a great dr and I highly recommend him or DR Jacoby in PLano. Feel free to write back with questions

I would opt for the Novasure first--while your kids are still so young. You may end up getting moe than six months relief. When (snd if) the symptoms come back, your kids will be a little older (and you won't have to pick them up as much), then you can get the hysterectomy.
