he is getting ot/st twice a week ,he is due to start pt. but I'm wondering if that will be enough. Thanks for the protein advice but with his disorder u could be built like a muscleman and still be a "rag doll". I'll check out the ECI and the chiropractor. Thanks for all the advice.:)

Occupational and Physical therapy! Once you have therapists, they will give you homework. You can also call ECI in Florida. Insurance usually coveres therapy for children under three for issues like this, but I would absolutly know what you are doing before you try anything.

talk to your pediatrician, however if it was me... I would put a little protein powder in with the formula or milk, and then it will help build his muscles back up.

Please do not put protein powder in the child's food without speaking to the pediatrician first. Protein powder does not build muscle, it provides a higher caloric load for muscles that are already being used. Hypotonia can be improved through physical therapy. Have you received a true diagnosis of hyptonia? I would assume no because you would have been referred to PT and OT if so.

Our daughter was also diagnosed with hypotonia at about 9 months of age. She had 7 physical therapy treatments and reached her motor milestones within normal ranges. Our PT was great, and being a PT myself I would highly recommend it. The home therapy is a way of teaching you things to do with your child to give them maximum benefit. Our daughter is now 19 months, and while she will always be low tone-hereditary-she is totally "normal", running, climbing, galloping and starting to jump. I credit the early intervention she got with her success. Continue to be an advocate for your child, give him your love and support and best of luck to you!
