I am on Euthyrox ( levothyroxine) ( having hypothyroid) from past two months, my periods were always late, before getting diagnosed with hyppothyroidism, my cycle was of 30 days, but now the periods are getting late by 10 -15 days, my OB told that it might be because of hypothyroidism. when i did the blood test before ,my TSH was 6.56 after taking euthyrox for 1 month its reached 3.76....doc said its sure that the medicine is effecting the body....but till now the periods are not yet normal,..has anyone been on levothyroxine, how long did it take to get your periods back to normal, and what are the chances of getting pregnant. We are planning for a second baby, the doc has give a green signal now abt trying for a second one....though we haven't tried yet...me worried abt my late periods, cos i have read somewhere that if ur periods r getting late by this long gap,,,its unlikely that i'll be ovulating...should i wait for the peiods to be on track first and then try for a second one or should i give it on luck and go ahead....one more thing which i want to add is that my husband is been diagnosed with vericocele, so u see its really going to be lack chance for me now to be pregnant ( his doc told to meet if he finds prob getting me pregnant).

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all for the advice, i am 29 year old and my T4 and T3 are fine,,,thats what the doc said,, he said that my T4 is getting converted to T3,,thats a good thing,it seemed to him that i got this thyroid problem because my VIT D was too low, it was just 10, the normal range is 30-100...now i m having VIT D tablets along with the levothyroxine.....

A friend of mine who went through fertility treatment told me recently that it is harder to get pregnant with a TSH above 2. 3.76 is still too high in my opinion even if you were not trying to get pregnant. Also have them check your T3 and T4 levels to get a better picture of what is going on.

After trying to get pregnant for 4 years, we went to a fertility specialist and discovered we had multiple issues to overcome.
One of the first things he did was have my regular Dr raise my Synthroid dosage when we started our IVF / ICSI procedure.
My periods were very regular - my hypothyroidism and medication for it didn't seem to make a difference with my cycle regularity - I was 36 at the time - but a good T4 / T3 balance is very important for getting pregnant and maintaining a pregnancy.
(Just going by a TSH level isn't enough - they should also be measuring your free T4 and free T3 levels.)

I don't know how old you are but between your period length, your hypothyroidism, and your husbands vericocele (the issues you are already aware about) you might want to consider seeing a fertility specialist sooner than later in order to discover if there are even more issues you need to over come and which procedure(s) will help you overcome them.

I agree that you should get a fertility workup. I am hypothyroid and it did not affect my cycles. My premature ovarian failure did. I was diagnosed w/ both when we were trying for baby#2. I was 37 at the time and did not want to go the donor egg/IVF route(they said my eggs were gone and this was my best option). I did end up getting pregnant w/ baby #2 naturally five years later and have a healthy 2 year old now. My periods were very irregular after baby #1, I would skip a month, go 30 days, 40 days without one. If you go to a fertility specialist, at least you will know what hurdles you may be facing. Also maybe an endocrinologist to help regulate the thyroid. That is their specialty. Good luck.

Just a thought. I've heard of lots of women getting pregnant after using acupuncture to bring their body up to optimum working order. When I was your age I wouldn't have considered it but we now use it to cure lots of things and it works like a charm. Best of luck....

As the others have said, if your thyroid is managed and your levels are good, there should be no interference with you getting pregnancy, regardless of meds.

I went Hypo after my first, and had no issues getting pregnant with my second.
I've been on Levothyroxine for 5 years.

So I would argue that your issues are no related to thyroid.

Best of luck to you!
