Hypoallergenic Formula

Enfamil makes one called Nutramigen
Similac makes one called Alimentum

Both are cow's milk based although the milk protein has been broken down into smaller parts - making them OK for babies allergic to cows milk.

As compared to normal formula - the cost is going to be about twice as much. They also smell pretty bad (although the babies don't seem to care).

Hopefully you can get back to nursing - as it is easier, and more cost effective - soon. :) Until then, either of these should work for you.

Nutramigen. It does smell awful, but my daughters seemed to like it when I needed to suppliment.

After I stopped nursing our twins, we used Nutramigen since they had a milk protein allergy. Smells horrible, but they liked it. Look around online to buy in bulk so you can save a little money.

Nutramigen

They do have a Wal-mart brand also. It works just fine and doesn't cost as much. I have used that when money was tight as they are expensive!

Nutramigen is what I used for my dairy-allergy baby.

Don't forget to pump while you aren't nursing, so your supply doesn't drop :)

your doctor is WRONG, not that it should come as a big surprise. breastfeeding while taking an antibiotic is not recommended as it will pass through the breastmilk, obviously your doctor isnt paying attention to the latest research, again no big surprise. virtually all baby doctors theses days claim that cows milk is somehow dangerous , and if a child shows any sign of an allergy they decide its got to be the cows milk OHHHH. yeah, right. ok, here goes, most formulas are soy based, so try goat milk, sounds odd, but its worth a try . soy products are almost impossible to get away from theses days, soy is in virtually every product we use, from peanut butter to
laundry detergent, but the child might be sensitive to it, thats not unheard of.
