K., I am an epileptic that has been since birth. My daughter, father, grandfather and uncle all have epilepsy. I would love to help. Allow me to say this...her diet is very important. Low potassium level will cause her to sieze. Also, please keep her away from caffine.(Assuming she is old enough to even drink it.)Bananas are very important and so is orange juice because the folic acid will help her body digest and absorb the potassium more quickly.

I do not have a child with Hydorcephalus or Epilepsy, however my husband does have epilepsy. I am not sure about your fears or concerns about your daughter, but I can tell you my husband is a fully fuctioning adult. He owns his own business, is a great and active father, has lots of friends and is very happy. His seizures are completely under control thanks to medication. (This can take a while to find the right med and dosage) It's been years since he's had a seizure. Getting informed is the best way to deal with any type of condition. God Bless.

Hey K.. I've have had epilespy since I was in grade school. One of my good friends has it also and her new 1 yr old son has it also. I have had all kinds of tests including my recent EMU. I go to Barrow Nurology at St Joe's and they are awesome. They have epitoligists there and treat children. They are hard to get into right away but worth the wait. I have a beautiful healthy baby girl but had seizures during my pregnancy. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

They are fabulous and you can call with any questions. They organize confrences with great speakers, support groups, and camps for young kids.
Good luck with what ever your situation might be!

Hi K.,
My daughter has hydrocephalus. We found out when she was around 6 mths old. She had surgery right away to put the shunt in. She then had another surgery at 15-16 mths to drain some fluid away. Since then she hasn't had any problems with it. She is now 5 1/2. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Hi K.
My daughter was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus while in utero. She had a shunt when she was 2 months old. She is just over 5 months old now and doing great. We are a little concerned about developmental delays that may occur - but continue to be optimistic on her progress.
Please email me if I can be of any help - ____@____.com
