Husky Jeans
My son is now 19 months and is "Husky." He is in the 95% for weight and 90% for height. I am having a terrible time finding pants that fit him. We currently are wearing size 3T sweat pants that are way too long but fit him in the waist. Just wondering if any mothers of "round" children know of any particular brands that are made to fit these kids. I'd like to buy him a few pair of jeans, khakis, etc. but can't find anything that he doesn't complain about digging into his gut.
BTW, he is perfectly healthy. He's not fat, just thick. So I don't need any toddler diet tips. Thanks!

Pants with adjustable waists are one of the best kid-related inventions ever! I have the opposite problem with my daughter, who has always had a teeny waist, and they have been great. The benefit for you is that usually the waistbands are usually made bigger and do not cinch unless you pull the elastic taut to button it. I hope this helps!

I had the same problem. Baby Gap has a great pair of jeans with elastic around the back of the waist. They are in the toddler section and come as small as 18-24 months. My son wore these at 1 year and is still wearing the same size at 22 months. We are close to moving him into the 2T but he slimmed down a bit so he was able to keep wearing them. I absolutely love them and don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found them. He gets his use out of them! I was looking at a Land's End catalog last night and they have some too but I wasn't as crazy about them. I looked at Gymboree and all the other places many of the other posters mentioned and never found anything. They had the adjustable waist inside but that never worked for my son. Once Upon a Child was a little helpful just because they have such a variety.

My son was exactly the same way. I bought most of his clothes from Gymboree. The pants that had an elastic waist and roll-up bottoms worked great. He also wore overalls often. Sweat pants with with elastic ankles work well too because they don't drag.

Gymboree clothes run big, Sears has a "husky, plus size" children's section but I'm not sure if they go that small.
I had this problem with my oldest girl too she just went with a bigger size and rolled her pants for awhile. Now she is 8yrs.old and wears a slim pants and is skinny skinny.
You could try track or running pants, etc..

Go to Once Upon a Child! My niece is 2.5 and still very chunky [a little bit more than what is healthy] and I've gotten her jeans there many times because my sister has a hard time finding bigger ones. Believe me it's so worth it because then you can actually see all different brands, and find the best ones with the stretchiest waists. The Children's Place seems to be pretty good for bigger waists but there is such a variety of brands at Once Upon A Child it really is the best place to look. There are some brands that have adjustable waists and some that actually have plus sizes for toddlers [I found a pair of 3t that said "3PLUS" on the tag and the waist was really big. Unfortunately I don't remember the brand!!!]. Anyway, definitely check there. My sister has also resorted to buying 4t pants and folding the bottoms. You could also buy a bigger size of used jeans for cheap and cut off the bottoms to fit your child. I'm not sure it would work with any other type of material, and eventually even the jeans will fray but it will do until you can buy kids sizes in husky. Around 2 years toddlers stop growing so much, and their appetite isn't so big either so chances are he will thin out a bit. Even if he doesn't, I think the actual husky sizes start at 4t, so it wont be too long before you'll be able to buy things that fit well.

Don't forget thrift stores! Fill your cart with a bunch of $2 sweatpants that look like they might fit, bring them home, and re-donate the ones that don't fit.
Besides socks/undies I have never bought a single clothing item for children retail. Kids grow fast and destroy their clothes anyway. I actually get a lot of compliments on my thrift store finds.
P.S. Those round babies usually turn into those "tall" babies pretty quickly!

Besides those mentioned (Children's Place, Old Navy, Sears) you can also try Fleet Farm or WalMart for their husky sizes.

Have you tried overalls? They seem a bit forgiving and you can adjust the height and the weight doesn't really matter. Also, Target sells circo or merona or some other type of pant with an adjustable waist. Maybe those will help.
We had the opposite problem. A 99% height kid who is so skinny he wasn't even on the weight charts. In order to keep any pants on we had to buy them so short he was the only boy in preschool in capris! The Target pants saved us.
Good luck
