My husband went credit card crazy about three years ago. We are still trying to recover. We were about there when I was off of work for 2 months due to sugery. Now we are back to dying in debt. the hosue is about to be forcloses on, one car was repoed and the second if far behind. We rely on my family having parties to attend to get extra food. I eat at work and my husband does not eat until he gets home. I have nagged and begged him to get a second job, but he is aways "looking" to see what he likes. I can not work over a certain about of time due to a medical condition. HELP!!! I need Help. My family is dying in debt.

What can I do next?

Cut up the credit cards! If you don't have any in your possession, than you will be less likely to add to your debt. I know the economy is really rough right now, but you end up paying MUCH more in the long run when you factor in the interest payments, late fees, etc. that go along with credit cards. Try to decide if the purchase is a NEED or a WANT... this helps my husband and I when we're trying to tighten up our spending. Do you have any family members that can help you out with the money situation until your hubby gets a 2nd job? Good luck!

Try Consumers Credit Counseling, they are a not for profit credit counseling. They can get your debt reduced, late fee's etc with the credit companies and set up a monthly budget for you to stick by. They have helped many consumers for atleast 20 years that I am aware of. Long ago I worked in a collections dept for a credit card & the credit companies were ALWAYS willing to work with them..
Good Luck....

I actually found a really good book that helped us out. It is called The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. It really helped out with what steps to take and when to take them. There are also lots of websites for him. And he is also on the radio. Google his name and you can get more info.

Hi, R..

I am so sorry. I am somewhat going through what you are but slowly recovering on my own. There are debt consolidation places out there that can help you. I think there is one called CCC or something like that which is good. Bankruptcy is another option although not one that I would consider until the last possible moment. The way the economy is now it is so difficult to pull yourself out of this. I do wish you the best.
