hi L.,

i have a car bottle warmer like some of the other ladies have suggested and they do work great but they can take several minuets to heat up. but when a child gets hungry they are hungry now...well thats how my son is. so sometimes he did not have the patience to wait for it to heat up weather i ran it under hot water or used the car warmer. and i have gone into stores to heat a bottle up in the bathroom and the water never really got warm enough to heat the bottle. one thing that i found that works really great is i would heat it a little warmer than usual and wrap it in tin foil. it stays warm for a long time and heating up more than you normally would keeps it warmer longer and if he gets hungry before it cools enough, run it under cold water for a minuet. running it under cool water cools it pretty quick.

Sorry to be confused but, what is wrong with keeping it in it's original container ?? Which is kept at a perfect temp?

If you are at a restaurant you can usually ask for a glass of warm or hot water and warm it that way. Or they have the bottle warmers that plug into an ashtray outlet in your car. I always put the bottle in a thermos with hot water. BUt only put enough water to cover about two thirds of the bottle. Then when you get ready just wipe the bottle off with burp cloth, napkins, whatever.

Do you have a car bottle warmer? They work great. I had one when my 2 year old was younger and it was a life saver when we were out running errands.

When I would be out and about I would ask someone for a cup of hot water from a restaurant or a gas station.

Hi L., I also am breastfeeding my 14 month old. When I am out and about I just find a bathroom or even in my car to feed mine. Or whereever you are cover up with a blanket and just feed her. If you give her a bottle too often you will have to pump more often. I would suggest pumping and then going out so you have fresh milk and you dont have to warm it. I fyou do the best way is to find a bathroom with hot water but you could have jsut fed her by the time you find warm water. It is too convenient!! I fyou are going to continue, you just need to get over the modesty thing and just feed your baby it is completely natural and people understand. I fed mine on the beach this past summer. I sat in the little tent and then covered up with a towel in the chair. Enjoy this time with your baby for as long as you can. I fyou skip nursing time you have to pump otherwise your milk WILL dry up. I did that with my first child and I hardly pumped with the second who is now 14 months old.

Good luck to you and let me know if you need anything else.

Good luck.

I would always ask for the waiter or waitress to bring me a glass filled 1/3 full of hot water that they use for coffee and hot tea. Since the water is so hot...it only takes a couple of seconds for it to warm up. Just make sure you shake it up to get any hot spots out and ALWAYS test to make sure. If it ever gets too hot and your baby is crying for his/her bottle...you can then set it in a cup of ice to cool down faster. Hope this helps!

Hi -

I usually get a cup of hot water from a restaurant (like the water they would use to make tea). Starbucks and other shops like it are good places in the mall. I just soak the bottle for about 5 minutes. Also, they do have on-the-go bottle warmers (you can buy at Target, BabiesRUs etc). I just found the hot water does the trick.

Hope that helps.

Hi L.,
I have a few suggestions. #1 - You could try running hot water over the bottle in the restroom. Or #2 I just saw in my One Step Ahead magazine that they sell a bottle warmer you can plug into the cigarette adaptor in your car. They also have a website #3 I know you said you didn't want to beastfeed sometimes, but if you really needed to, I sometimes went into a dressing room which helped.
Hope I was some help,
Kim

you really don't have to warm it.. it's personal preference. I bottle feed and i give my daughter formula how ever i can. She has gotten used to the milk at every temperature. but if you are very staunch on wanting it warm, go through a drive thru and ask for a little hot water in a large cup. Then you have something to get the bottle warm. In the summertime your dashboard works well too.

when i was driving long distance with my son at a young age, and i was the only one in the car i would stop at a gas station and go to the coffee area and get some hot water and let the bottle sit in it for a few minutes, not to long or it will get to hot. thats how i did it.

One of my friends registered for a car bottle warmer at Target. I'm not sure how it works but it was fairly cheap. I always tried running the bottle under warm water and all that stuff. Sometimes it was just easier to find a dressing room or use my car to do it myself. Good luck!
