How to Treat Nail Fungus
I went to have a fill on my acrylic nails last night and was dismayed to discover that a couple of my nails had developed a nail fungus...yuck! I had them remove all of my acrylics and they did put some sort of anti-fungal solution on them, but I wanted to see if any of you had ever encountered a similar problem and what you did to treat it. I am sure there are a lot of different products at beauty supply stores...has anyone purchased anything that has been particularly effective? I have worn nails on and off for years and have never had this problem, so I am really in need of some guidance.

what you need to avoid at all costs is to have the fungus spread to the base of nail--if it does that, it is pretty impossible to get rid of it and the nail gets pretty thick and nasty (from experience on both big toenails). I would go to a dermotologist to get the strongest thing available before it spreads.

I have also seen a podiatrist for this. The script is a 90 day treatment and very expensive as most ins companies try fighting coverage on this. Go to Walgreens or Sallys and get Tea Tree Oil. Put it on everyday and it will clear it up. However it may take up to 6 months but stick with it. Its a small bottle that goes a long ways...it cost around 10.00. Good Luck

It sounds weird, but my mother-in-law swears by Vick's Vaporub. I have used it on my toenails before and it works. Rub a little on before bed and your nails will look better the next day. A few days of that and you should be clear. Good luck!

You need to see your doctor.

hello,
My recommendation is to get Lamasil oral tabs that you may have to take for 1 or 2 months from your doctor. My husband had nail fungus on his toes and nothing worked. We bought many OTC meds nothing helped except that med. So don't waist your time and go to the pros.
Good luck,

I wanted to tell you that I discovered fungus on my toenails a few years ago and I am still dealing with it. I went to a podiatrist and got a prescription, had followup after followup, etc. I've used a product that I got at Walgreens and I'm sorry I've fogotten the name of it but I was told it would work eventually if I used it every day for a long time. It had a very funny name and it was with a section of things you can buy for fungus related issues. You might go there and try to find it. Or ask someone who works there, they might know.
I still have ugly thick toenails that I'm thinking will probably never go away. I hope this won't be the case for you, but your expectation should be that it could take a while of very persistent treatment before you might be able to get rid of it. And I wouldn't wait. I'd start today.
Good luck.
