How to patch a burn carpet with remnants?

Hi,

I accidentally had my iron set on the carpet and it tipped over while I was not looking and melted the carpet. OOOps. I will need to patch the carpet AND DON'T HAVE ANY PIECES TO SPARE. I THOUGHT i MIGHT FIND A MATCH AT A CARPET REMNANT PLACE. Does anyone know where i can find carpent pieces???

What can I do next?

hi -- try CAlaifornia Carpets. They have a few locations in the bay area and s have a remnant room. they are the best! good luck!

Can you cut a piece from the back of a closet? Thats a good solution sometimes!

I had a similar problem once in our rental where the lady had a cat that clawed up a corner.....I, fortunately, had saved a piece of carpet in our home file, from when we had it installed, and was able to use that.....It sounds like you do not have that solution, but I saw where someone suggested if you have carpet in a linen closet or other type of closet, using a piece of that would work great, too.....If that would work for you, it seems to me, replacing a carpet in a closet with similar carpet, would be a whole lot easier than trying to find the exact carpet to patch a hole.....You then can save the rest closet piece if you have another accident ;-).....Good Luck!

M.,

If you cannot find a match, and if you own your home and have homeowners insurance, you can place a claim and get your entire carpt replaced. I was able to replace my carpet when a fire spark flew out from the fireplace and burned a small portion of the carpet. I placed a claim to my insurance company--State Farm Ins., at the time, and they had the whole carpet replaced because the color and style was no longer available.

Try Floors To Go in San Carlos. Good luck!

Bay Area Floors in San Mateo and Menlo Park has a remnents division. You may want to try them.
Good luck!
