Eating right and exercising is the best regiment for losing weight. If you dont have time to make it to the gym I have found an exercise video that I love. It is by Carmen Electra and she has 5 dvd's. They are striptease, lap dance and hip hop. These videos are a lot of fun and plus it will keep it interesting in the bedroom. They target all those areas where we have problems.

I was slightly overweight when I got pregnant with my son and I gained 40 pounds with him. I lost 20 immediately after birth and then I slacked off trying to loose the rest. Then I joined Weight Watchers. I have lost 22 pounds so far (average 1 pound a week) and it's great! I love going to the meetings; met new people with the same struggles as I had. It's the best thing I ever did. I highly recommend it.

Hi. I am 23 years old as well and I have an 11 month old. I struggled for a while. I didn't think it was ever going to go away. And alot of it hasn't. I tried all of the diets and pills and none of that helped. I did however try not to eat quite as many breads and potatoes, that was an issue for me. I love them. But every once in a while, when I have time I'll play a game on the floor with my son, like crawling around chasing him or running him around the house or the yard. They love that and it's helpful to you. Like I said, my weight is not all gone, but I am just now starting to get back into some of my old clothes. It is hard to find someone to diet with you. Everyone has big ideas, but when it comes down to crunch time, noone has time. And really, when you have kids, who has time for excersice equipment!?

Hi B.,

I had my baby 11 weeks ago. I gained 50 lbs with the pregnacy and have only lost 20. Its a bit depressing sometimes but I have been going to a all lady's gym and going to the gym everyday or on my days off have helped so much. Losing weight in theory is very simple. Burn more calories than you eat. EASIER SAID THAN DONE!!!! But exercising and being active as much as possible can not only help you lose weight it helps your self esteem and how you feel. I am slowly but surely losing weight but its going to take along time. Most gyms have day cares where your child can play while you exercise plus you get to talk to other women who are dealing with the same thing. Every day I go to the gym is another day I feel better about myself. I highly recommend finding a gym. If you can't afford one get out there with your kid and go for walks or bike rides. Its quality time with your child and good for you. Also eating healthy is a life change. You must change your eating habits to loose weight. I started slowly. Just change one thing at a time. Every calorie cut is a little bit closer to your goal. Try an extra veggie or fruit in your day. If your a fast food junkie cut out the fries or only eat a few. Its the little things that slowly add up to real results. I hope this helps a little bit. Losing weight is the hardest thing to do for most people. And as a nurse those diet pills do nothing but potentially hurt you. Eat healthier and exercise is your safest bet.

Good Luck! Just know your not alone!!!!

I am 24 and also have one child. I am needing to lose weight also. I am currently about 100 pounds over weight. I started a workout video called walk away the pounds by Leslie Sansone. I have lost 5 pounds in two months. That is alot for me because it is very hard for me to loss weight. I am also taking a new diet pill called Phen 37.5. We have a weight loss doc that comes to town once a month and that is were i got them. They give you alot of energy with out all the weird side effects. I also run a daycare. So I need that extra energy. The video takes about 20 minutes and it is really easy. SHe has many series but i am on the one mile walk right now. You can find it at walmart. Hope it works. Let me know.

I have changed my diet and am starting a regimen at Curves. I am an Avon rep and I go at a really low cost and it is all women and I use that Curve's line in the Avon catalog and it is working great. You are working out with all women in your situation and they are your support system. If you are interested in checking out information on the Curve's system look at www.youravon.com/rcitron and search for Curve's. If you order anything you will get a free two week pass to go!

Good Luck!

I have found that if I eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day (instead of 3 big ones)that I don't snack, and i can make sure that i am eating healthier foods. I also agree that water is very important, but most importantly you need to exercize. No weight is going to come off and stay off with out it. not to mention the fact that you will lose the weight and still look flabby without any toning. you should include your son with your exercize routine and make it fun for the both of you. go for walks as a family, ride bikes/tricycle, watch a music dvd like the wiggles and dance to it. this is what works best for me.

Me and u sound a lot alike. My son is only 2 and me and his dad have been together for 8 years and are also high school sweethearts. I also know how u feel about the weight issue. When I first became pregnant I started losing weight because I started to eat healthier. Now I'm still trying to eat healthy and even try to exercise but to me it's hard when u don't have anyone to help motivate u and say hey let's keep going.

I have 10 month old twin girls and I lost my weight by doing Weight Watchers Online. I liked their program because you can still eat normal food and it teaches you to make better choices. If you really have a craving for something, you can have it. You just adjust the other foods that you have during the day so you don't go over your points. You may not want to have to worry with adding up points everyday, but REALLY tracking everything I put in my mouth was what really made a difference for me. I did everything online because I wasn't interested or able to go to the meetings with two babies. Good Luck!! Where there's a will, there's a way!

Yep... same boat here... I have a couple of suggestions. First is to drink lots and lots of water. And if you knew me, you'd understand how strange it is to get that info from me... I always HATED water and if I drank it first thing in the morning, I'd get sick to my stomach (strange, but true!) But since I too have joined e-diets, I've started drinking about 60 oz of H2O daily and I've come down about 5-9 lbs pretty much permanently (since my weight fluctuates about 3-5 daily). Now, that was only skimming the top of the iceburg as I want to lose LOTS more...

My other suggestion is to find some good books. I know it's hard to find time to read w/ little ones running about, but if you can find something that sucks you in, you might be surprised. I found the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and I was hooked from day 1. Something clicked in my head and throughout the day I found myself skipping snacks... Okay, okay, so that's how I got started in writing, but hey... it's a hobby that has taken me OUT OF THE KITCHEN and gotten me to use my brain for other things than laundry and dishes. Something to keep your mind active is key! And remember that you are not JUST a mommy... you are a WOMAN. That might help inspire you to begin eating healthier.

Whatever you do, however you chose to tackle this problem that we ALL have, remember that it takes a long time. I, too have tried all the diet pills out there (nothing worked), I've tried the excerise DVD's (currently collecting dust), I even went to LA Weight Loss (lost 35, but put it all back on!) and Weight Watchers.

It boils down to self-motivation! Good luck and we're here for all the trials and difficult days!!! =] K.

You can send me a message and we could keep each other updated w/ what works! I'm like you, I like to know another person going thru the weight loss roller coaster...

I too am in the same boat. I think I am too fat and would love to slim down for my girls sake as well as my own. By the way congrats on being with your highschool sweetheart. I am 26 yrs old with two girls ages 4 and 15 months. What has helped me to lose weight not much I've only lost 5lbs so far but anyways going to the local ymca and working out with my husband. Try asking your mate if he will work out with you. My husband is all the support I need he is my best friend and he is helping me through this. The main thing is to try to stay active. You need to do at least 30 min of excercise a day and cardio 3-5 times a week. Your emphasis should be on light weight training and heavy cardio.
We also lift weights which help tone and strengthen our muscles. I hope this has helped and if not, let me know and I will help you! Maybe we can get together and go workout sometime! I too have tried working out with friends it's easier to do it when there's someone there to talk to ect...like I have a hard time getting motivated unless I have someone with me. But it's hard to stay motivated if your friends are always bowing out and comming up with excuses ect...that's why I work with my hubby he enjoys it and since we're married ect...he can't give me any excuses hahahaha =) Anyways good luck! ~B. =)

I bought some cd's from www.smartechnique.com. These are relaxation cd's. It helps me sleep better and while I'm listening and relaxing it feeds my mind suggestions about healthy eating and exercise. It's not exactly hypnosis, but maybe something like it. They are not cheap, but there are many cd's and they cover a variety of eating disorders. I also joined e-diets in order to have other people to talk with. Between these 2 things I've begun losing quite a bit of fat. I'm excersising too, so I'm putting on muscle and not losing as much on the scales. That will be better in the end because it's a loss I can maintain better.

I'd love to be a diet buddy! Email me anytime. ____@____.com

I'm no good at self-motivation, either. I did great when I had a workout buddy, but she stopped going, and then I did, too, even tho I'm still paying for the membership, sheesh! I am Queen of the Slugs, all bow down and worship me, hahahaha!
Water is very important, and if you don't like the taste of water (my mom hates water!), you can use the flavored water. No soda is a good rule, but I never drink the stuff anyway, so I was never able to cash in on that great weigh loss tip. Just try to get yourself moving. Get a fun dance dvd, and dance around the living room with your little boy; you'll be sweating in no time, and you'll both have so much fun. Good luck, but just remember, your child thinks you're beautiful, no matter what, and you really truly are!

I am 30 and am having the same issues. And my youngest is 7 so I have absolutely no excuse. Here are some things that have helped me in the past when I stuck with them. I need to get back in the groove also and get some of this fat off me!!

If you drink alot of pop, switch to diet pop if you can not give it up all together, when I did this I dropped around 20 lbs. immediately. Watch your calories, ask your Dr. depending on your weight and age there is a certain amount of calories you should stay under in a day. Exercise, and I know it is hard to find time, do it with your child: go for a walk, bike ride, play at the park, or even in the backyard. I have also found that children love to attempt to do aerobics shows with their parents, that is an idea too. Check out local aerobics classes in your are YMCA or Local Rec Center.

Hope this helps!! S.
