How to Keep 3 Boys Busy All Summer...

I am a SAHM of 3 boys ages 8, 7 and 4. I am definitely not crafty in any sense but I am looking to find some crafts that are both inexpensive and geared towards boys to do with mine this summer. It is way too hot to be outside all day and I'm looking for ways to keep them busy and to have fun :) Also, any Moms of boys around the same age and in the west valley open to play dates???

What can I do next?

Hi, I live in Avondale and have two active boys as well. They are 10 and 5. I like to take the kids swimming at Lifetime Fitness and I also like going to the library. If you would be interested in getting together this summer let me know. My email is ____@____.com Also, I am an art teacher so maybe we could plan a craft or project to do with the kids.

There are lots of things to do! There are several pages with free activities on my website and you can find them by starting at: http://www.winmarkcom.com/summeractivities.htm On that same page there is a link to "Mother Lode: The Ultimate Collection of Ideas for Keeping Kids Busy." It is a book I wrote and illustrated that has more than 5,000 activities for toddlers through teens that are simple and most use free or inexpensive materials. If you use one idea per day it will take about 15 years to use them all. I'm the oldest of 5 kids, mother of 3, step-mother of 3, grandmother of 7 and have more than 30 years of scouting experience, and working with children's programs in churches and schools. We play well at our house! Enjoy!

You've received some great advice and resources so far. I would just add that you should give your kids the materials, and supervision when needed, but let them entertain themselves. You don't want your kids to learn that you will entertain them whenever they are bored. You can join them in the fun, but don't be the one to come up with all the ideas.
