5 years ago my hair dresser who made a big deal about being my friend badly needed a new well and asked me to loan her money, this was when my dad had passed away so she knew I had inherited some money. To this day, and all the letters I've sent she has not paid me back anything except for the $40 the first month, that check bounced, but she did make it good. We live in different states now. Anyone have any exfriends?? like this and what did you do. This was a lot of money.

What can I do next?

Seek advice from an attoney. It depends on the amount of the money which court has jurisdiction, so you are wise to get help from an attorney.

I hope you had her sign a contract, promissory note, or some kind of paperwork. If not, maybe she put a notation on the check that bounced. Make sure you take all your documentation to the session with the attorney, most will do an initial consultation for free.

Sometimes, just a well written demand letter from an attorney is enough to get people to pay up, and it doesn't cost you much.

I hope you've kept copies of any correspondence, because without any proof I'm afraid you may not have any recourse. It sounds like you'll need to contact a lawyer and get legal assistance because she's trying to make it all go away by ignoring you.

I wish I had more advice, but I sure hope things work out for you! Best of luck!

Since she is already basically an ex-friend. You have the bounced check, take her to small claims court. You can get the papers on-line. Take them to the court house and file them.

If I were you I would take her to small claims court. Call your lawyer & see how to get the process started. If you still have the bounced check that is a good start!! I had to sue an ex-friend of mine 4 yrs ago & it took about a year before I recieved any form of payment even with taking him to court, so be patient!!

Best of Luck to you, N.
