My 14 year old daughter displaced her knee cap yesterday. She had a horrible reaction to the morphine that they gave her and she threw up for the first time yesterday in her life. I can not get the smell out of the couch. I have tried several things but it still wont come out. any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

I don't know if it will work or not. But, what about trying a pet cleaner. They have something in it that breaks down the enzymes in pet accidents. Just a thought. Good luck!

My little guy (18 months) threw up on the couch last month, so I know how awful that smell can be. I thought I cleaned it well, but after a few days it was still their. I rewashed everything with Nature Bright and then put my AirSource 3000 air purifier on the couch. The next day the smell was gone. If we are close enough, I can let you borrow my air purifier. Both of these solutions have no harsh chemicals, so you do not need to worry about exposing your family to toxic chemicals. Hope this helps.

Call a professional carpet/upholstery cleaning company. They have the powerful tools and cleaners to help the situation. It would be worth the 60 bucks. (Trust me on this one! Had the same thing happen and I tried to get it out several times with my little shop-vac....no luck! Called the professionals...and it STILL smells like a dream!)

Does your couch have cushions that zip off? If so, zip off the covers and take them to the dry cleaners. The smell is probably coming from the foam. Take one to Joann's or Michaels and get a new piece of foam cut. Stomach acid is a NASTY smell, so sometimes just getting all new is MUCH easier if it's feasible :)

HI A.. We have a Rainbow sweeper and we dump water on stuff like that and then suck it out. I think you could do the same thing with a wet/dry shop vac. Also, after dumping HOT water on it and sucking out the water, you could try to shampoo your coushins. HOpe that helps

I must second the motion to use Nature's Miracle, sold at Petsmart. Test fabric first, in a hidden place on the couch, to make sure it won't make a mark on your couch. The stuff is amazing.

Clean as best you can with an upholstry clearer and (rag or steam cleaning machine). Then go to pet store and buy natures miracle and totally saturate the area. It reacts with the enzymes and neutralizes the smell. I did this in my van and it worked well. It takes about 24 hours for the natures miracle to work. It has to dry or something before it fully works.

Did it get into the cushion? If so you will have trouble with the odor unless you replace that. If it's just on the surface, get the spot damp and rub borax powder into it. Let it dry, then vacuum it up. If it was really bad you may have to repeat, but I rarely had to do that. Borax is great for urine as well.

Our daughters use a product called Smoke Odor Stain (SOS). It may work with this odor too. It is enzyme based, designed to eliminate the odor and to effect cleaning. You might also check out SNAP Heavy Duty cleaner. You can go to www.theschambacks.com and type the name in the search bar to read more about them.

A.,
We had a cat that had a UTI once and the cat pee'd on our couch...those of you who have cat's know how strong that smell can be.
I tried everything to get it out but nothing worked.
I finally tried NATURES MIRACLE you can get it at PetSmart
they sale it in a spray bottle or you can buy it by the gallon.
I soaked our couch and let it dry and then did it again until the smell was gone.
If it gets out cat pee, it might work on vomit. You can start with a little bottle and if you notice a difference, you can get the bigger bottle and have it at the house for future use.
Good luck!
Hope your daughter is feeling better! :)

A. if you do what one of the girls said and take the cover off do not go to Joann's for foam. It will cost a small fortune. Do you live anywhere near or in the Cincinnati Area. I can get you foam at whole sale costs if the other ideas do not work. Thay can also ship So if you don't want to make the drive they can ship it to you but that slao is going to be expensive. Also you will need you measurements of the cushions so they can cut it for you unless you have an electric knife and a steady hand to have nice straight sides or it won't look good. Also you will need to wrap the cushions with Bonded Polyester fiberfil. This softens the foam so it sits nicer. It comes in a huge roll sheet form. And clear spray fabric glue to hold it all together. Be prepared to struggle with taking off and putting on the covers. Don't think they have gotten smaller you want snug covers or the fabric will travel all over the cushions. If you live close I would be willing to help you. I am in the Cincinnati Area right off I 75 and the place to get everything is not far from my home.
Oh my I just read an answer from a lady saying to put water and detergent on the sofa. DO NOT DO THAT nothing ruins home decor fabrics quicker than water and detergent. Beleive me my oldest had very runny poo and pooed all over the cream colored sofa and my hubby thought he was being nice and took the covers off and washed it on gentle in the washing machine. Never came out til the third time and by then the fabric looked like it was spaghetti. I wasn't an old sofa it was brand new. I was at work so by the time I got home the damage was done.

Woollite Fabric cleaner. It comes in a blue spray can. My daughter threw up in my car in the middle of the summer. I was so scared that it would smell. I cleaned the seats and carpet with that stuff. It never once smelled. You have to try it!

Get a jug of ODOBan - sams club - you can mix as strong as you like - it is wonderful and has many uses - but it will do the trick - if you have a steam cleaner put it in and do the spot on the couch it will clean it up and get rid of the smell - and also always remember white vinegar gets rid of smells also it may smell like vinegar for a bit but the smell will be gone.
