My kids painted a Home Depot project. My husband bought rustoleum paint to paint with. I covered them in his old shirts - so you could hardly see the kid, but somehow they still got paint on their clothes. Other than kicking myself for going along with using that type of paint (cause I can't change it now), any ideas on how to get it out?
I have tried scrubbing. Washing with lots of cleaning spray. Scrubbing with alcohol and nail polish remover.
Thanks for any thoughts (again, admittedly I was having an off day that day)

In my experience, you have to get the clothes off and soaking in water (if it's water-based) the second paint gets on them. Once it dries, you're stuck with it.
Hi Holley, Have you tried a mixture of hand sanitizer with alcohol? I have heard it works but have not tried it myself. Best of luck! K. K.
We have done several projects around the house with paint/stain (oil based products)and I have found that nothing gets it out of clothes. Goo gone and acetone help but I have never used enough for the paint to be completely gone. It might be that you have to let this one go and save the clothes for future projects.
I taught oil painting...try:
Fels-Naptha. It is a bar laundry soap. usually on top shelf. Also there is a an oil cleaner that i can't remember the name of. It is usually on the top shelf too and in a can that looks likt Terpentine. You put it on and dab and blot. I have gotten (or at least lightened) ol paint, gum, and other things with this combo.
I work for a non-toxic company and we have a laundry line of non-toxic products. Check out www.saferforyourhome.com. The product I'm talking about has enzymes which lifts the stain off of the clothes, carpet, leather, etc. You can't scrub it though. You need to let it sit for a while. try paint thinner. If that doesn't do it, there is nothing else that is going to take paint out of clothes. Good luck.
