How to Get Nail Polish and Mak-up Out of Carpet

Does this suck ladies or what!...I have a nice bright pink nail polish stain on my cream burbur (sp?) carpet...and recently aquired a nice brown eyeliner streak on the carpet in the same room. Wow...I love having tween girls! So, no biggie accidents happen, but how do I get the stains out? :( Any help or advice would be most appreciated, I have no idea what to do..lol

Ps - and why do I have cream carpet..I rent, believe me, it would not have been my first choice with three kids...lol.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I have a 3 year old who found my ONLY bottle of nail polish as I threw out the rest and she painted her nails on the carpet, then wiped them off on the carpet! ARGH! I rent and have wonderful cream/tan carpet (I would pick dark brown ugly for rentals :O). I also was flipping mattresses and found a wonderful drawing on the floor under the bed. So thank you! And thanks to all who posted as I'm eager to get the polish out of MY carpet too!!!! Have a great day!

I represent a wellness company that manufactures Sol-u-mel which will probably work. It is made w/o harsh chemicals or harmful ingredients (all their products are). PM me and I can tell you more and we can see about getting those stains out.

Hi D.,

Carpet and upholstery cleaner by wowgreen is amazing on carpet stains, and I have been told that it has done wonders on nail polish on a bathroom rug... it's a chemical free product line that is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and non-flammable. And is very effective. not to mention totally safe to use around the kids.

My then-2 year old spilled a bottle of hot pink nail polish on our off-white carpet a few years ago. In addition to that, there was waterproof mascara and a few other lovely things. I called a carpet cleaning company, and they got every single stain out!! We live in Fresno, and it was CPR Carpet Care - they were great. Anyhow, even though it looks really bad, call a professional and chances are they can get it out. I have no idea what they did, but it worked.

I'm guessing the carpet is synthetic - not wool.
Test a bit of nail polish remover on the carpet in a closet where you can't see to check that it won't hurt the carpet - wait a day and check again for fading, if it works it will remove the nail polish - then a good carpet spot cleaner like Resolve or Rug Doctor on the makeup. Make the girls do their makeup in the garage for a week and maybe they'll be more careful next time. ;)

Try "Spot Shot" it works great! You can find it pretty much anywhere. It is in a orange and blue can I think. Good luck!!

Try "Goof Off". You'll find it at your local paint store and perhaps Home Depot. It comes in a small can and removes just about anything (including dry enamle base paint). Use a Q-tip if possible to keep the area as small as possible (unless it's a big spill). Good Luck!

Hi
can you cut the stains out? that's what I've done before!
good luck!
