Radio Shack and places like that sell something called a wireless signal booster....it has to be mounted on your roof but is supposed to helpful with cell phones and wireless internet. The guy at Radio Shack said it only works if you have at least one bar of signal on your phone, if you get no signal at all, then the booster will probably not work. It runs about $300, which is why we haven't gotten it yet, so I can't really tell you how it works. On the Radio Shack website, they have customer comments to will give you some insight.

Go to tigerdirect.com and in the search type: cell phone booster. They have booster just for your problem. We also have metal roof and sides and this has been our problem, and our computer tech told us about this booster, we are also going to put a wire outside from this booster and this should solve our problem at the office. Also, your cell phone company normally sell a booster, talk to them.

Go outside? I have Verizon and occasionally I have to enter *228 which automatically updates any new cell towers. Check with your provider and see if they have any options like that -maybe your phone isn't "recognizing" the closest cell tower. Otherwise it is probably just your location- you may need a booster or a different provider.

My parents had the same problem with their metal roof. I think they finally switched providers and it works a little better - but not well. Call the company. There maybe something you can put on the roof to allow for a better signal.

J.-I don't have Cricket service, but have you tried going outside and seeing if you can get a signal? If not, I'd contact Cricket & advise them of the issue you're having.

It is not the metal roof, I am going to guess you are surrounded by trees and are actually in a low level of land and maybe surrounded by big houses? Or in a low populated location where they do not have many phone towers?

Cell phones transmit with towers. They put them up on high hills. If you are surrounded by lots of trees and large homes and are in a lower terrain, you will have this problem... Of course I have a friend that lives on a tall hill and the only way to get a signal is to go into her walk in closet in her bathroom to the furthest corner behind her clothing! It is hilarious....

I suggest you ask your neighbors who they use for their phone services. Figure out who has the best and most reliable connections.

We had to change our service for the first time ever, cause our daughter did not have good reception in her dorm... She asked around to see what the other students used and figured out the best comapny for her cell phone..
