How to find venture activities for teenagers in Hohenfels, Germany

hi- we've been in Hohenfels for just over a year. I have a 10, 8 and 3 year old (all girls). We have found a lot of things to do via the book "an hour away" It's put out by the swim team and you can buy it at the thrift shop on post (open on Tues and Thurs, up behind the shoppette) I think it was $10. There is Playmobil in Nurnburg(my kids LOVE), there is a fabulous solar heated pool in Beretzhausen( a few euro) and a wave pool in Parsburg and an indoor/outdoor pool complex in Regensburg (called Westbad). There is a boat ride in Kelheim, castle ruins to hike too, Canoeing in Kallmunz. Trampoline, Nabba Dabba Doo, Megaplay, and Woelpi land are all indoor play places great for a rainy day. There is a zoo in Nurnburg, one near Neumarkt (jura zoo) a wild animal park in Burglagenfeld and a falconry in Sinzing. That is just some of the local stuff! Tons of bike paths and camping around as well. Surprisingly alot of it can be found online in English! Have fun!

First of all have you gotten your license yet? If you haven't start studying....there is soooo much you can do having a license over here. Second.....at the end of July beginning of August, Grafenwoehr has their yearly German/American volksfest. It is sooo much fun and your kids will enjoy it. third of all....go to ACS and your community MWR. They always have some kind of trips going on to somewhere at affordable rates.
Since Hohenfels is part of the 409th BSB, they are always a family to Vilseck and Grafenwoehr. Enjoy your stay here as much as possible. Although your community is small, it beats where we got stationed this time. This is why I always go back to Grafenwoehr.

How far out do you want to venture?
If you want to visit nice cities, there is Regensburg and Nuernberg close by. Nuernberg has the "Tiergarten" (a Zoo) which is beautiful, they got the little polar bear "Flocke" there) Other then that there are a few "fun parks" and castles in the area: http://www.schloesser.bayern.de/englisch/palace/index.htm

well G. M unfortunately you are on a very small post so bowling or movies at the zone are your best bet. also getting them involved in the teen center and sas and cdc will keep them pretty busy this summer. they have sports camps for sas age and in order to get the information on that just go up to the cleos office in building 10. for off post things to do there is always swimming in any number of swimming pools throughout the area no more then 15 minutes away or as far as palm beach only an hour away. there is the nuremburg zoo. there is playmobile, trampolina, quieselwind. not sure if i spelled that right but it is a amusement park. if you didn't find this helpful i am sorry i am also still learning. even though me and my husband have been stationed here for some time i just got custody of my 6 year old niece so we are learning all the ends and outs.

Hi. We are stationed in Hohenfels as well. Have you looked into SAS? I know they offer several programs and activites for school age children. It may also be a good way for you kids to meet other kids their ages. Hope this help. :)

Hi there, I'm in Hohenfels also. There is a MegaPlay just past Grafenwoehr that all of your kids might like. Also, our favorite is the zoo. The Nuremberg zoo is only about a 45 min drive and is a nice 1 day activity. Below is a list of things from the hometown happenings newsletter. Deutsches Museum in Munich
This is a very interesting museum. They have do-it yourself displays featuring communication and scientific experiments. There are a number of large displays that include old time cars, trains, airplanes, a full scale coalmine and a planetarium. With nine miles of corridors, this museum is the largest technical museum in the world. Explanations are in four different languages including English. If you don’t like to play in the snow and still want to be active, visit the local indoor pools in Berching (www.berching.de), Parsberg, Palm Beach (www.nurenberg.de) in Nuernberg, the Westbad in Regensburg (www.regensburg.de) or the Amberger Kurfuerstenbad (www.amberg.de).
