How to Find Childcare for Kids with Different Spring Break Schedule?

My kids spring break is a week after the public schools schedule and i can`t find a camp during that week.I need somewhere they will be from morning till at least 5.30pm and i am finding it difficult to find somewhere.I am not leaning towards hiring a babysitter for this cos i think the kids will be happier if they are engaged outside the home;I am wondering how other parents who might have been in this situation handled it? Any suggestions? Thanks

Aren't there any city camps?

I think it's really dumb that the local schools don't all have the same spring break. That's always pissed me off.

But, we have a great city camp program here. Maybe you have one in VA?

call your local park districts they usually have the camp things for 2 or 3 weeks ina row as public schools always have different breaks than private schools. that way they make the money from all angles lol. good luck

I used to live in sterling...(say hello to wegman's for me! lol)

I remember Fairfax county schools were often on a different vacation schedule than loudoun...you might want to check there...you are not far from the county 'line'

Since the school knows it has a different sort of schedule, have you tried asking the school administration or teachers or counselor if they know of options? They must be aware that all the families in the school might need "coverage" and will have a hard time finding it in an area where all the spring break camps are geared to the public school schedule. So the school teachers/administrators surely have had this question before and might know of resources for you.

Some private schools run "camps" or special class options during the spring break week for their own students, so that kids whose parents must work during spring break can send the kids to school for fun (paid!) extras -- arts, athletics, etc. If your school does not provide this option now, suggest it for coming years.
