Hi,
I accidentally dried pants that I had worn while I was sealing my driveway with blacktop. The dryer drum now has tar stains on it and I have no idea how to remove them, or if it is possible. Any suggestions?

I wanted to let everyone know that the Magic Eraser did the trick. It did take two of them, but the dryer is clean again!! Thanks everyone!
Can you try WD-40. I know that is suppose to take crayon off walls and stuff. Read the bottle before you use it.
You might try contacting the maker of the dryer, but I do know they make tar remover for car windshields and that might help get the tar out of the dryer.
I think there is stuff called Goop or Goo Gone that can be used. You can do an internet search to see where they can be found.

Its called Goof Off!. Its a little can with red letters. I've used it for tar removal myself on my kitchen table and chairs. My lovely ex-husband was covered in tar and sat down at the table... It works great. A little goes a long way. And the smell is powerful-like paint remover so be carefull breathing it in.

In the stores Walmart, Kmart in the auto dept. you should be able to find tar remover for your car. I've used it many times on my car after riding over newly tarred roads. It works great. Put on a cloth and use a little strength and it should come right off. Use rubber gloves.
There is also a product that I love for stains. It's called Carbona. They make 9 different products. They work great. You can order it on-line. But since it will take a week. I'd go for the tar remover.

I would try either goo gone or the Mr. Clean Magic Sponge... that thing seems to work on everything! good luck!
I have used M30 for gum in my dryer. I have 2 teenage girls who chew gum, and of course, it gets left in the jeans. I usually get it from a $ store.
I buy it for tough stains in clothes, it works great. I have used it to get gum out of a car seat a couple times.
Wipe in thick onto spots in your dryer and let it sit and soften for a couple minutes, then wipe with a dry paper towel. You will want to wash it out with another wet paper towel so you dont get it onto your clean clothes.
I have also heard that nail polish remover works on gum, maybe that will work on tar also?
