We have a "fabric" (not sure what kind though) couch, and my kids have spilled choc. milk on it, i got it dried up as best as i could, but now it stinks, like moldy old milk. My question is how and what can i use to clean it? I would like to try to clean it up and not cover it up. Thanks so much for any help!!

What can I do next?

Vinegar (and water) will disinfect like bleach and remove odor. You will smell the vinegar for awhile though. I would use it when my children had an accident...I also add it to the rinse cycle of my kids underwear every once in awhile. You might have to do it more than once though if a lot was spilled and you can't remember exactly where. Spray until very wet and then soak up with a towel.

Baking soda might help with odor too...wet it and then sprinkle a lot of baking soda and soak up with a towel?

we have microsuede furniture in our living room, and between the kids, the dogs, the cat, and my husband, it was starting to look and smell really gross. my husband read on the internet that you can safely clean microsuede with water & neutrogena soap...not sure what it is about that particular soap but i got the neutrogena, a few old rags, and some hot water, and spent an afternoon cleaning the furniture. it looks & smells wonderful! (i am still trying not to think about the color of the water when i was done--ugh) there were a couple of spots that i ended up febreze-ing later but overall the neutrogena & water did the trick. it was either try that or get all new furniture, so i'm glad it worked!!

I dont know how much youre willing to spend on this but, I would recommend investing in a Bissel Little Green Steam Machine. I have one and love it. They run about 40 or 50 bucks at Wal-Mart. They are great to have on hand when you have little ones. I pull mine out about once a month or so, to get all those little spots that magicly appear. I originally purchased mine years ago before I was even married. I steamed cleaned an entire couch that was handed down to me. It looked, and smelled, brand new. Its wonderful for small carpet spots and those little "accidents" on the mattress. The cleaning supplies that you buy to go with it arent cheap, but they last forever. A little goes a long way.

I have had that same thing happen to me and milk stinks. Whether it is on the couch or in the car! my kids are milk junkies!!! What I did was just juse some spot care, like shout or something on the stain itself, then clean it with laundry soap and water. it worked great. laundry soap isn't as harsh as some of your carpet and upholstry cleaners so depending on what kind of fabric it is i don't know if i would use any of that stuff. it may take a little elbow grease but it should work. Febreeze works also, but only as a quick fix. with milk, the smell will come back if you just try to cover it up. I hope this helped and have a wonderful day!!!
