What are some fun ways to let others know you're expecting (I've seen the ones with holiday stuff, but we're not ready to tell for another month or so).

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much everyone for all of your thoughts! I LOVE them!!! I'm going to share them with my dh and then decide. I'd already heard about the "big sister" shirt, but I don't know where to get one at...........and there are so many other creative ideas here that we'll have plenty to look at and draw from as we have LOTS of family to tell (bio. family are not close, but church family are).

Thanks again!

My cousin did something that I thought was really cool. She had the family over for dinner one night and served BABY back ribs, Baby carrots, and a couple more BABY foods that I cant remember, then had "We're having a BABY written on the dessert cake.

This may be too late but my friend and her husband took a picture as a couple after she found out and put it on the front of a card. Then under the picture, they wrote two shirts
$30, two pairs of pants $45, one photo session $15. Then they would open the card and it said the look on your face when you know there are three people in the picture priceless. Kinda like a Mastercard commercial. Very cute and memorable.

Another friend brought gifts for everyone and had us open them at the same time. They were all baby items like pacifier and bottle and the like. We all looked at each other but it didn't take long to figure it out.

Have fun with all the great ideas you have received so far. Hope something will be unique for you and congratulations.

I got on FTD online and sent moms a baby bootie planter with mini roses with a congragulations card attached but no name as to hint who it was. You know the quickest way to spread news is to use the telemom service. They will be on the phone to everyone trying to figure out who and spreading the words as they go.

We sent out postcards with a picture of my husband holding my rather large belly with a note that said "Guess Who, Guess What, Guess When?!!" When it was time for number two the postcard said "Guess Who, Guess What, Guess When Again!!" We told my mom when we were buying our first home and mentioned it would be perfect for the 4 of us. It took a moment, but her smile was priceless.

You can get a can of Prego sauce. And Put your name on the lable. So it would say T.'s Prego. Or something like that. Or you could take them to the oven and open the door and show them a single bun on a sheet or something like that just so they can see there's a bun in the oven.

I made my own shirts for my girls that said big sis and biggest sis and my shirt said Mom to be. We wore the shirts when we got together for a family event and we didn't say anything just took off our jackets and acted like there was nothing special. It was great to watch everyone put 2 and 2 together and then have it dawn on them. I wish we had had it on video!
Good luck and congrats!

My husband and I went to Build A Bear workshop and made bears to give to our parents. We recorded a message to include with the bear so that when our parents pressed the bears paw, the bear said, "I love you Grandma and Grandpa. I can't wait to meet you!" My mom burst into tears immediately. My dad said it took him a minute to comprehend what the bear was saying but said it was a great way to let everyone know we were finally pregnant.

We announced our family we were pregnant with #2 by getting a t-shirt with "I'm a Big Sister" embrodiered on it. We arrived at our families and had a coat on our daughter and just waited until family wanted to take her coat off and then just watched the reactions- it was great and so unexpected by everyone! :) Have fun!

One of my good friends announced her 4th pregnancy by sending or handing out birthday invitations to the family with her due date as the "party" date, with the time listed as To Be Determined by Baby. Took them a minute to figure out, but worked well for those in town and out.

you could put a "big sister" shirt on your little girl, and either have her just casually wear it at a family gathering, or send it in a picture.

you could send "grandparent" frames (or just a regular frame) to family as a gift with either just the sonogram of the baby, or with a picture of your little girl on one side and the sono on the other.

you could send flowers or a cookie bouquet or something like that... maybe for valentine's day (if that's when you're wanting to tell) that say, "happy valentine's day! love, T., your hubby, your daughter & baby." you could so the same thing with a card...

maybe these ideas will at least inspire something else if you don't like these! : )

congratulations! i pray your pregnancy is wonderful and that you are really able to enjoy these precious days with your family!

blessings,
S.

Congrats on the new pregnancy! I found a shirt online for your little girl that says "Mommy's knocked up, and all I got was this t-shirt" I thought that was pretty comical.
They have TONS of shirt at cafepress.com, just type in pregnant, or knocked up, you will have a hard time picking one out!
I think the t-shirt idea is a great way to let your family know.
Good luck!
