How Often Do You Bathe/shower? JFF

Ok, piggybacking on the "how often do you shave" question, I now have to ask, how often do you bathe/shower?

Several people alluded to not bathing everyday. Do you?

Personally, I can't stand to go to bed feeling grimy. Even if I haven't done much but hung around the house, I still feel cruddy when it comes to bed time, and I have to bathe before I go to bed. Every day.

How about you?

(No judgments here, just wondering if I'm normal or not! lol Ok, I know I'm not normal, but you know what I mean...)

What can I do next?

Shower every morning, wash face & essentials at night & wash my hair EOD.
Sometimes (if I know I'm going to be cleaning, laundry, etc. all day) I will skip a shower that day.
I always get dressed every morning (to the shoes) and apply some make up. (Before you ask that O.!)

About every other day, if I'm not terribly sweaty. I have psoriasis, and too much bathing dries it out and causes flares.

I do shower daily, but my husband is a SAHD and sometimes he doesn't manage to shower, especially if he doesn't fit it in before I leave for work!

I think it's pretty normal for the primary care giver for YOUNG children to miss out on this - whether they WANT to or not - and especially if they aren't OK with a night time shower.

i have a trouble making two year. i dont get to shower during the week. maybe here or there. i always have to chance when DH gets home. By then, i am so pooped i just want to get kids to bed spend an hour or so painting and then i hit the hay.

I make sure I dont stink...anywhere. If i do, i will do a fast under armpits or in the valley wash.

I have extremely thick hair. so i can go a week without washing it. It still looks like i conditioned it and washed that day even on day four. so i wash it on sundays. saves alot of time and money!!

Sorry if this grosses people out. I have three boys and little time to myself. i do everything with an audience except shower...i need that time to sleep standing up:)

this was a good one! i love JJF questions.

I know I'm going to be in the minority here! Pre-children I was like the rest of you - shower every single day. Now after two kids and enrolling in school full time, I shower on overage ever-other-day. There are even times that I will miss two days. It always depends on what is going on at the time. I find that when I'm spending late nights writing papers, I value sleep above cleanliness! Besides, Americans bathe way more often than the rest of the world, so I just tell myself my habits would be the norm in Europe!!!

Oh no! I'm the stinky kid of Mamapedia!

Right now I shower every day after swimming, but when we're not doing that I'll certainly let it go a day or two.

((laughing)) During past adventures (travel, outdoor, etc.), I would go a LONG while (and a bit!) without a proper, hot, full body shower. We're talkin' changing shades after a shower...So not showering for a day or two doesn't gross me out.

I must every day! Every now and then, I will skip a day, like if I'm at home cleaning or something ... but I usually feel gross all day long and can't relax at night.

Some people with oily skin/scalps (like me) can't go as long as others.

It depends on the time of year and my daily activities. But in general every other day.

It's actually not good to shower or bath daily. It washes away the natural oils you have in your skin.

Living in a very dry area... every other day in the winter, daily in the summer unless I'm engaged in something that will make me sweaty/gross. If I'm doing that, I usually shower right after. When my kids were tiny, tiny -- whenever I could get a chance: which ended up being every 3-4 days. I know, ewww, gross. But what can you do?

There are so many things I look forward to, with each new day, and one of them is my long, hot shower every night! I seriously get excited. : )

In the summer, it's a cool shower. And I may take 2 or more cool rinses, on a miserably-humid day! But only 1 is with soap. : )

I HAVE to take a shower every day/night, or I just feel....unshowered. Especially my hair. I know it's not good for the health of your hair, to wash it every day. But mine actually feels dirty, sitting up there on my head, if I don't wash it daily. I don't blow dry it though, so that helps keep it healthier, even though it's washed and conditioned every day.

The question made me chuckle, but I can relate in wondering about others. I know I'm compulsive about a few things, but that's how I roll, and I'm ok with it. : )

BTW, what is JFF? IDK. LOL.

I was just thinking both of those questions! :)

I usually shower every other day, but I "wash" what counts before I get ready for bed and for work in the morning--I find everything needs a little refresher. If I work out, I shower, so when I'm working out daily (few more months) I'll be showering daily again. To be honest, though, the nights I don't shower I usually end up soaking in the tub and washing off then as well, which I have always preferred. I usually hate showering because you can't do something else at the same time, like read a book or drink a cup of tea. I am also a before bed showerer, which is frustrating since my husband is the same way.

I definitely used to shower every day, but since my husband works evenings I have to wait until he is home and by then we're putting kids to bed and both so tired only one of us makes it through the shower (unless we share, but I'm taking up too much space these days), so it is pretty much every other night. =)

I wash my hair and shave my legs and armpits every other day. If I work out on the day in between or otherwise get dirty/sweaty then I definitely shower then as well (but don't bother with hair and shaving), otherwise, I normally don't shower every single day.

I have to take a shower when I get up every day. I usually grab a cup of coffee, but to REALLY wake up I need to shower (and wash my hair).
Sometimes I have to take a shower before bed too, I just don't wash my hair...just depends on what I do during the day. Any yard work, dusting, deep cleaning stuff, or if I work up a sweat deserves a secnd shower.
My BF is the same way.
We feel gross if we don't shower every day.

Not judging the people who don't shower everyday, but I don't know how you don't shower everyday. I just feel so grossed out by myself when I don't. Plus I just got a new massaging shower head. . . It's my favorite part of the day. Great for a single mom ;)

At the risk of sounding gross, I don't shower daily, more like every second day. I can't stand showering first thing in the morning, I hate getting out of the shower when it is cold, and we turn our heat down at night. I actually prefer to have a bath, and as odd as this sounds... I wash my hair in the bathroom sink. I have no idea how or why I started this, but I actually love it. it doesn't take long, rinses well and I can relax and enjoy a hot bath in the evening.

I almost always shower every day. Some days I shower twice if I've worked out really hard or it's summer and I've showered before an event, sweated horribly and feel nasty again. There are those days every few weeks though where you just don't get a shower! Sometime on a weekend or if I'm sick or a child is sick and we're just hanging around the house all day, I don't shower. I must say, I have a bidet, and for me it's the best thing going! On those occasional "no shower" days, and in the summer, it really gives you a nice, fresh feeling!

I shower or take a bath every other day. If I take a shower everyday, my skin and hair get super dried out....

The only exception is if I really work up a sweat working out... then I rinse off so i am not all stinky!

I think you should follow your body's "cues" to decide. If you build up oil, sweat, etc quickly... you'll need more showers than someone who doesn't! I do think it is funny that MOST of our ancestors from a hundred years ago *might* have bathed once a week... and today some of us do it twice daily! Just a funny thought... hehehe!

now I DO change my underwear twice daily... every morning and every night. As far as shaving legs- I do it when I look like a relative of bigfoot, or on the rare occasion when my legs are going to see the light of day... haha!

All that said... I once talked to a person who said he "never showers or takes a bath" because he thinks they are bad for you... and I can say THAT sounds SO gross to me lol!

It's the one time I have to myself and I feel so refreshed and clean afterward. Plus I can't sleep at night knowing I got a lil funk on my body. I don't think washing your hair every day is necessary yet a nice shower to wash away the daily nasties is good. My kids and I get bathed every day unless we are sick. Ladies esp if you are on your monthly I really hope no one is going a day then with out showering. EWW!
I have been to Europe and smelled some of the peeps over there. When you walk by someone and can smell their funk that is a big no no.

Some of these answers really cracked me up!! I shower every morning & wash my hair every other time. If I work out after work, then I shower & wash my hair before bed & will skip the following morning's shower, but that's the only exception. Usually on my non-hair-washing days I use a dry shampoo unless it really looks fabulous, which is not the norm for me.
