How Much to Feed a 7Momth Old?
I have a two year old and started watching a baby. She is 7months now and her mom wants me to start feeding her food for lunch. Now she is
Cereal 8:30
Nap 9:30-11 or so
6 oz 12:30
Nap 1:30-2:30
6oz 3:30
So my question is how should I work food into this and still make sure she still has milk?
I can not believe I dont remember.
So What Happened?™
Thank you every one. Her mom has not started to give her lunch so i can not ask her. I will just try and see what happens. Thanks again.

at 12 everyone sit down for lunch together the baby will see everyone else eating so the baby will want to eat too. then give the baby a little bit to eat and follow with milk.
If you are not comforatable ask Mom to make a schedule for baby so you can follow and keep the baby on the same schedule at home, Mom would love that, it would show you care about the baby's schedule.

Baby is still supposed to have 24-36 oz of formula a day with solids. At mealtime, Its actually portioned more like 2 tablespoons of each thing (such as 2 TBS of a fruit, 2 TBS of a veggie and then maybe 2 TBS of some rice cereal) after that is given, give her her 8 oz bottle and see how much she finishes, this can help you gauge how much to give after the feeding.
I know its crazy how we tend to forget when our children get even just a little bit older! I just read something yesterday about this so its fresh in my mind :-) I have #2 coming any day now

If mom wants her to have cereal for breakfast, and food for lunch, I would offer her food for lunch and see how much she eats. Chances are it is not much. She will reduce her intake of milk, if she is filling on food.

At 7 months old she should be on baby food, my youngest baby in my daycare is 4 months and he eats rice cereal, fruits and veggies. His pediatrician told his mom to put rice cereal in his formula. I know for my own starting at 8 1/2 to 9 months mine only have one actual bottle a day, and had 3 meals plus baby snacks, and formula/juice in their cup. I have a baby who just turned 9 months in my daycare and his mom has been feeding him food from the get go, I think they are all different. I would feed the baby how ever the parents do so there is no change in the baby's diet from your house to home. J.

My pediatrician always told me that the goal was to replace liquid meals (milk) with food - at 6 months they need to begin eating so that they get the appropriate nutrition. So i agree with the posts that suggest you try to feed first, then offer the bottle. they will eat as much as they want, and then drink as much as they want.
i never liked teh idea of mixing cereal in the milk bottle since many babies get constipated from that combo.

You can give her the baby food before or after her 12:30 bottle. I like to feed my son his food before the bottle but sometimes he's too hungry to mess around eating from a spoon so he wants the bottle first.

WE are just past that stage with a 9 month old granddaughter. I would suggest giving some food for lunch before the bottle. I think she will still be willing to drink the bottle, or most of it, after having some food. She may take only a little food at first, but should increase. Our baby actually likes "supper" food like vegetables better than cereal with bananas, and there is this really good stuff we call "Astronaut food" that comes in tubes. She loves spinach with pear, for one example. If you give the bottle first, she may refuse the food, but I don't think the other way around. Remember she is growing, so should want to eat a little more, anyway.
