How Much Do Your 14 Month Old's Weigh???

I just want to see a bunch of varied answers to this! My son weighed 7lbs even at birth, and currently weighs 20.5#. He was on the 25%-10% percentile curve the whole time. I just wonder if others have lower weight, picky eaters??? I would love to see a variation - to know I'm NOT alone!!! He eats 5-6 small meals a day, and gets plenty of calories, he's just not a chubster. The doc says he's fine, unless he falls under the 3rd percentile - and that he's maintained the same weight curve, that makes it average for HIM. thanks for all input!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for all the great input! It helps to see a variety, and also to know I'm not alone!!!

My little girl HAS ALWAYS BEEN under weight. At 18 months she wasn't even 20 lbs. NOW she will be 7 in 2 months and she is only 41 lbs. She is very healthy and NEVER sick. So I would just say if he is healthy, I would worry.

My son is 16 months old and weighs 23 and a half pounds. He has always been on the lower end of the percentiles for weight, but he has consistently been in the 90th percentiles for his height. My son eats very good, three meals and snacks throughout the day. I actually was worried about his weight at one point because he was so skinny and when I asked the doctor they told me basically the same thing they told you. I agree with you some babies just aren't chubby.

He's fine! I wouldn't worry until the doctor worries.

My daughter is 5 years old and only weighs 30lbs. But because that weight is normal for her and she is proportional to her height the doctors don't worry about it.

My Sis-in-law has alittle girl who is four years old now and weighs barely 22 pounds. My daughter is two years younger and weighe five pounds more. She is healthy and hapy though. As long as your sweetie is eating and is happy-let him be. Good luck and I hope your family has a great spring and summer!!!

My situation is exactly opposite of yours...I have a 6-month old who is absolutely huge (about 23-24 lbs). She is so big that her height/weight aren't even on the chart. Like your baby, she doesn't eat any more or less than most babies. I was concerned at first, but the doctor assured me that as long as babies are otherwise healthy, being very large (or small, in your case) is perfectly normal. So no worries- babies just come in all shapes and sizes!

Hi S., you are not alone. My son is 21 months old and he only weighs 23 pounds. He too was on the lower side of the curve for his weight but in the 90th percentile for height. Dr. says there's nothing to worry about.
I also have a daughter who just turned 4 in February. She only weighs 32 pounds, but is going through an amazing spurt as far as her height. So when all is said and done I just have small children.

They come in all shapes and sizes. My son was a little chubb but I can't get any baby fat on my girl no matter what I do. She's just going to be long and lean. I joke that she's going to grow up to be a supermodel and support us when we're old! As long as he's staying on his curve, don't even worry about it! Maybe he'll just be a baseball player instead of football. :)

If the doctor is not worried, then Im sure he is fine.

My son is short for his age but his weight fits his height..well at first. Now he is a bean pole and skinny as anything which makes buying clothes a task. He will be 5 end of July and is just now getting out of 18-24month old shorts..pants too but the pants obviously show off his socks..so either he has on a belt and the pants fit length wise or it is the other way around. LoL.

I was like that as a child too. I ate, so no one worried too much.

HI. My name is A. I have a 10 month old son named Tyler. I also am curious about this subject. Tyler was 9 lbs even at birth and now at 10 monts he weighs about 23 lbs and very short. He's always been a chunky baby. He is healthy and my doctor hasn't told me he is to big. But I hear from alot of moms that have kids 14 months+ that are Tyler's size. I guess diffrent baby need different things. To me he doesn't look fat he is very solid. I think your baby sounds to be a good weight compaired to other moms I have talked to but I'm not a doctor lol. Anyways let me know what you think.

My daughter was born at 9 lbs. She is 14 months and 20 lbs. But then my 8 year old son was born at 5 lbs 6 oz and at a year he only weighed about 17 lbs.

My youngest was 7 lb 12 oz at birth- that's above-average. By 8 months, she was no longer registering on the curve at all. At her 12 month check-up she weighed 16 lbs, and at her 2 year check-up she weighed 20.5 lbs. Her appetite seems normal, especially compared to her sister. I've brought it up at every single check-up, and every sick-visit, but her doctor says she is fine. She is on a curve, he says, her very own extremely small curve. The only thing he changed was to recommend giving her a whole vitamin every day (as opposed to half).

I would keep bringing it up- make sure your pediatrician is fully aware of everything, then listen to your "gut".
