How Long It Took You to Concieve After D&c?

I just wanted to say hi and tell you that I will be 40 in March and I'm taking my last pack of birth control pills this month and then we will be ttc. I'm so nervous about the age thing, I have a 14 month old boy and a 17 year old boy, it took me a year to concieve my last son but both of my tubes was blocked and they used dye to unblock them and conceived the very next month. I had a D & C in 1999, after miscarrying a 16-week baby. Its placenta did not completely separate from the uterine wall so it had to be removed.

The D & C was the week of Easter and I was pregnant again by July. But, that was the quickest I ever concieved. Before that pregnancy (my 2nd) I had gone four years without getting pregnant. My first pregnancy ended in miscarraige but at only 10 weeks, did not require a D & C.

I don't know that D & Cs in and of themselves cause slow conception. At best, you'll only have a 20% chance of concieving each month. And since you are my age, I'm assuming your cycles may have changed. I think I could still get pregnant now but it might be more difficult because the cycles are getting erratic, whereas in the first 20 years they were as regular as clockwork.

Hey Sweetie -- sorry for your loss. I miscarried with our first pregnancy, and it was over a year after my D&C before I became pregnant again. Best wishes.

I was told that it was just like having a baby! First 2 months of regular cycles are what my ob called empty eggs! So we have waited till the 3rd regular cycle and was then preggo with ds! This time has not been the same! We are now on cycle 4 and playing the waiting game! Remeber each person is different! Good luck!

I had a D&C in June after a miscarriage gone bad. My doctor told me and my husband to wait until after my first regular period before trying to conceive again. In July I had a period but it wasn't regular. In August I had a regular period. In September I was pregnant. This month I miscarried again.

For me, getting pregnant isn't the problem, its staying pregnant. I have a slow heart which causes problems with circulation and I don't produce enough progesterone.

Had we not been trying to conceive, I probably wouldn't have known I was pregnant this time. This miscarriage was just like a normal period. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about monitoring your progesterone levels. If you don't have enough, it may be one reason you are unable to conceive.

S., Your right every body is different, my doctor told me to let my body heal before I tried to get pregnant again, We waited almost 6 months and then started trying, i got pregnanat after 6 more months of trying, so basically took us a year. I have a friend though that got pregnant right away after her d&c. I think talking with your doctor and relaxing about the idea of getting pregnant is the best answer.

I had my first miscarriage a few days before my 19th birthday and had to have a d&c. I conceived our oldest daughter about 5 months later. hope this helps.

My OB wanted me to wait 3 months after my miscarriage before trying to conceive again. Just give it some time. It will happen when it is God's will. Good luck!
