How Important Is It That the Pregnancy Test Not Be Expired?

I took one this morning (not trying to get pregnant, not trying real hard to prevent it either). I'm on the fence about # three but husband is ready for one more. I'm 28 days into my cycle and the only real reason I felt the need to take the test is that our timing was pretty much spot on for trying to get pregnant (because I ovulated earlier than normal). last months cycle lasted 31 days so I'm not late. Anyway it was negative. I was hoping to feel really relived or really disappointed. But i felt both equally. I guess my real issue it not that I used an expired preg. test (07/11). Its that I think I'm wishing I was pregnant. But I'm not sure. Good gracious! My issue is that I don't want to have to make this decision! I think I'm just looking for everyone to say, yes, you could still be pregnant. Then I don't have to agonize any more and just get it over with. Thanks for bearing with me. But as far as working out my feelings on cyber paper, I think I may just have realized as i wrote this that my scales are tipping slightly into the realm of disappointment. So now at the end here I realize I have a non question, but please forgive me for posting it anyway because I just need to reach out. This is an emotional moment for me.

What can I do next?

I actually don't think an expired test, especially one so recent, would give you false readings just b/c it was expired. But...since you still haven't finished your cycle, you still could be pregnant and maybe tested too early! Hang in there and test again in another week or so!

well after watching several episodes of "i didn't know I was pregnant last night" I would suggest you test with a test that wasn't expired. I hope it all works out the way you want it to.

Awww, I think you have answered the question of whether or not you're on the fence about it! As for the expired test, yes I think you should take one that's not expired. You can get a false reading if it is. Wait a few more days, then get a brand new test. Come what may! Best wishes!

Just get a fresh test and retest in about a week. I wouldn't trust expired tests even if it was recently expired. They expire for a reason.

I had bought a 2 for 1 about 4 years ago with my daughter and just used the second one that had expired last year and it worked. That being said I would still by another one and retest in a few days. I think you did test a little to early. But, yes it does sound like you and your husband are both ready for number 3 and if your not pregnant now I'm sure you will be soon!

I would say take the test again with a non expired preg test just to be sure. Sounds like you want to have another one so hope it's what you want. Maybe you should wait a couple of days and then take it. Don't stress off of this and just relax. Hope everything comes out the way you want. Take Care!

Oh my dear, I know how you feel. I would test again in a week with a new test.
