How Have Other Moms Reacted to Yaz?
15 months after the birth of my second son, I knew I needed to start using birth control again since I have weaned him during the day and my periods returned. I have had terrible acne since becoming preganant, so my doctor suggested Yaz birth control pills as something that might help my skin. I am nearing the end of my third week on them, and have not seen much improvement in my skin. I have been feeling really edgy lately, and have been unusually short with my sweet little boys. My husband even noticed that I just don't seem like myself.
I am wondering what kind of experiences other women have had with Yaz. Did it eventually help clear up your skin? Do I just need to give it more time? Did anyone feel like it caused emotional instability? I am under a lot of stress lately, but I can't help but wonder if this pill is making me feel worse. I was on Ortho Tricyclen for a long time before, but it caused me to gain about 15 pounds so I really wanted to try something new.
Thanks in advance for your responses!

Long term use of antibiotics is unhealthy. It weakens the immune system. Look at the ingredients of YAZ in the PDR Physicians Desk Reference. Can be found at the library and read the side effects. Most side effects are not worth the health risks of taking a prescription drug. Sounds like you are experiencing the side effects.
Good Luck,

I was on Yasmin for a couple years before I had my son and 7 or 8 months after my son was born and had no issues. I have heard some people are sensitive to hormones so maybe another birth control method will be better for you. I just recently switched to an IUD (Mirena) and like not having to remember to take a pill (which I was beginning to forget to do).
Good luck.

I'm on Yaz too and I'm almost done with my third month of using it and I've had the same problems you've had. I decided today acutally that I'm going to stop taking it. My skin completly broke out my periods are not normal and it made me crazy. I really feel like I hate birth control all together. One thing that I have found to work on my acne is fresh lemon juice. I put it on my skin every night and my skin has never looked better.

Hi A.
I don't have experience w/ Yaz, but I will tell you that my face began getting much better about 18 months after I had my twins and was completely back to normal at year 2. It took forever....but it has all cleared up!!! Thank goodness.... Hopefully you will have the same experience but just faster. Good luck.

I have not ever tried YAZ, but I have tried other birth control pills, and noticed that I get to be very edgey also - and not quite myself. I decided to switch to an IUD - it is great, I LOVE it, I would recommend it to anyone. I goth the one with a small amount of topical hormones which helps to keep cramping to a minimum. Not sure if it would help any with skin problems, but I am sure that there are other remedies for your skin that you could get and not have to feel like an emotional roller coaster. (at least that is what I felt like). I am very glad that I no longer feel that way! Have you ever tried Arbonne? I am sure that there is someone on here who sells it, or if you have trouble finding someone, I can hook you up with my sales rep. (I don't sell it just so you know, I just really like their products. They are expensive, but well worth it!) Good Luck - I hope that you find the solution that works best for you and your family!

Many birth control pills cause weight gain so chose wisely when it's time and don't feel you cannot switch if they're causing problems for you. You might consider contacting a dermatologist to help with the acne. How about your husband being responsible for birth control right now until you get physically settled??? It's hubby's turn!

Hi, I actually had the same problem after the birth of my daughter, who is almost three now. I was on the Yasmine pill and it completely changed my mood and I kept thinking it was my hormones from post pregnancy, etc. It is hard enough having the normal hormones, but then FOR ME the pill seems to send mine into overtime. I immediately stopped using the pill and started using a new skin care line my sister had been bugging me to try. I have another child now, my son is 15 months and my skin has completely cleared up. I have other clients that have experienced the same problem with their skin and I have all of them on a specific skin care regime. I can help you get these products and clear up your skin...it will look better than you ever imagined. I am new to this website, so I am not sure it you can email me back or need to contact me ###-###-####. I would love to help you!!

I tried Yasmin for 5 days and it put me in the hospital. I had an elevated count on a blood clot test after I complained of tightness in my chest. Luckily I stopped early enough not to need blood thinners. I was on Ortho-Novum for 15 years with no problems, but after my children thought I'd stop taking the pill. Due to pre-menopausal symptoms, my doctor had me try Yasmin (same as Yaz different strength). It just goes to show that our bodies change as we get older and have kids. One bc pill that worked before may not work again or may work great for one and not another. Keep an eye on your symptoms and keep talking to your doctor. Good luck.

After my third child I tried just about every form of birth control imaginable and they all affected me even though prior to him I was fine on the pill. After a year and a half of fooling around with many different types (including yaz) I went off everything and handed over the birth control job to my husband. I saw my dermatologist about acne and she prescribed a cream that is working.
Good luck!

It may just be that you have these new hormones in your body and your body just needs time to adjust to it or your body just may not not be reacting well with it. Try Loestrin or any low hormone birth control. It seems to have the least affect on your body, plus it cuts down on your period. I like it.
