How Do You Get Rid of Hemorrhoids???

Take probiotics. Get them from a vitamin or whole foods store. They will be with the refrigerated vitamins. (Don't get shelf stable ones.) When I started getting hemorrhoids during my pregnancy, the Dr. suggested those. Boy did that help!!! If they are really bad, I'm not sure if they would work. You'd probably have to check with your Dr., in that case.

unfortunately - the only way to get rid of them is by having a hemorrhoidectomy - they actually cauterize and remove them....you sit on a dougnut for several weeks...

you can help them go down/shrink by using witch hazel and Preparation H - but that only shrinks them - it does NOT make them go away...

If they are really bad and hanging out of your rectum - it shouldn't be a problem to have a gastroenterologist (I think that's it) take care of them for you...

Lots of fiber to keep your bowel movements soft so they don't get enflamed or rip.....if it gets really bad - and one rips - you could bleed severely...

That's awful you still have them! I get them after each baby (except my c-section). Witch Hazel helps...which is what is in the Preparation H pads. After I have a baby, I line a pad with those Prep-H pads and it helps reduce all the swelling down there.

You might need to see a doctor about it. And, maybe taking something like Benefiber daily will help it be easier for you to have BMs without having to push and potentially make it worse. Hope you are able to figure something out!!

Hemorrhoids are like exaggerated varicose veins in rectum and can protrude out the anus. If outward, they can become so engorged with blood, because of the pressure, the blood can actually clot and they are very painful, at this point they are "thrombosed" and must be treated by a physician. When they are like this, they will not retract in or shrink, so they can be "lanced" by the Dr. INSTANT relief and will heal up in a few days. You can use "Tucks" over counter thin pads that cleanse and relieve discomfort. They are an astringent with witch hazel.
If your Dr. doesn't do the procedure, call and get in to a GI doc or proctologist or be referred. I have had thrombosed hemorrhoids three different times and they were lanced, a very quick procedure and went on about my life the same day, even taking a car trip without any problems.
To have a hemorrhoidectomy, is much more involved and has a longer recovery. Sounds like you are putting up with a lot more than you should, if you are having them every month in four years. Get them taken care of so you don't develop other problems.
Proper fiber and nutrition, avoid constipation or diarrhea, avoid heavy lifting, and avoid long periods of standing, is conservative treatment.

One thing I found that helps is ice. Fill up a ziploc bag with ice cubes, place it between your cheeks and sit on it as though you were trying to hatch it until your bum goes numb. The cold shrinks the swelling and numbs the pain.

Unless they REALLY bad , if they are really bad you can have surgery for them. But that's the only way to actually get rid of them

Just keep a tube of preparation h handy!! It works wonders. I had them too, after delivering my first child. I had them surgically removed (WORST PAIN EVER, WORSE THAN HAVING A CHILD WITHOUT MEDS). Well after they were removed, they decided to come back. So, yes, they are here to stay. You just have to figure out what it is that makes you more comfortable when they come to visit.

they never go away unless you have surgery..to keep them manageable you have to drink LOTS of water and eat more fiber...if you start feeling constipated start a stool softner.

The delivery room nurse recommended applying Milk of Magnesia, topically. Just soak some gauze with it, and apply to the H-roids. It will promote shrinkage. Meanwhile, fiber, stool softners, plenty of water, and plenty of rest.

A doctor and surgery is the only permanent fix. Sadly, if you have a proclivity for them, they may come back.

yes. for life. if they are outside or inside the procedure is different. the doc wants to couterize sp? (burn) mine. I've heard they can use rubber bands and its very painful. just don't push and use rx supositories if you need to. and icey hot if they hurt (i learned that here!!)
