Right before my son started school, we bought special school shoes =) He got to pick them out and they are very comfortable and good shoes (we sprang for more pricey shoes in hopes that they would last longer). School started in August and now these shoes are not so great anymore because the velcro is not sticking anymore- he's a 5 year old boy so god only knows what is now stuck to the velcro =) lol... How do I clean velcro so that it sticks again? I don't want to buy new shoes just yet since he will most likely get new clothes/shoes for Christmas but he is constantly bending over to stick the velcro back and other then the velcro issue the shoes are still in great shape. Thanks for the help mama's!!!!
Take care,
H.

Time consuming but it will get it all out -- use a large safety pin going thru all the velcro and pulling out all the fuzzies that are wedged in there!

I've gotten good results by pressing tape over both tabs repeatedly. This lifts out fuzz and dirt and I get almost-new velcro again.

I pick as much out as I can with my fingers, then I'll use a fine tooth comb or even a toothbrush to try to coax some more of the crud out! The tape idea would probably work to get some of the smaller particles out, too.
