How do you shut down a mamapedia account? I am so disappointed in all the negativity on this site lately, especially the Christian bashing.
Those are several of you that I am really going to miss!

You just stop signing on. I am sorry you feel like there is Christian bashing on this site. There is ALL KINDS of differing opinions on here. SAHM vs WM, bottle vs. breast, circumcision vs. not, rich vs. poor, democrat vs. republican, left vs. right. That's kind of what makes this website fun. The diversity.
Good Luck finding a website tamer than this one!

Some are doing a happy dance to see one more Christian bow out of the discussions. One less voice for Christ. I see this happen over and over again in our country. We FAR outnumber the non-believers and yet they have convinced us that we shouldn't have prayers at schools, sporting events, or graduations, a cross on an employee's necklace or desk, nativity scenes in the town square, etc. etc. etc.
I understand why you want to leave. Just wish you wouldn't.
Many blessings! Have a Merry Christmas!!!
(Oops, not supposed to say THAT! Might offend a non-believer.) ((eye roll!!))

Can you just ignore the religious posts? There is so much more here. We don't want you to go!

Oh, and by the way, plenty of liberals are Christians, Cheryl. The kind of people who only believe conservatives are Christians are extremely closed-minded.

If it's any consolation-I voiced support for keeping a nativity scene at city hall and some atheist flagged my post and it was pulled! Don't let them succeed at scaring you off! But if the site is annoying and negative in general I understand, but I'll be sad to see you go!

Cheryl-I'm a "liberal" People who are politically conservative aren't the only Christian supporters. See, Victoria-we all bicker all the time!

***There must be Christian parenting sites out there too if you check around-I really like your posts-best wishes if you go.

I'm sorry that the negative comments are getting to you. I don't like them either but for me the positive aspects more than make up for them.

You can't shut down your account. You just stop logging on.

There are always going to be negative posts, but most are quite uplifting. From most of the other online forums I have seen, mamapedia is by far one of the tamest. There are many wonderful and uplifting Christian posts, as well as ones that are not pro-Christian. However, the majority of posts are fairly respectful even if they disagree. As a Christian myself, I have been amazed at some of the kindness and respect all round from those of many faith or non-faiths. If you wish to delete your account, then I believe you have to request it via support. There is a link to delete it if you click "contact us".

Just looking at the answers to your post, the bashing doesn't go one way.

I'm sorry you'll be leaving. I do have to agree, lately, there have been some less-than-helpful posts in response to questions. One thing I've learned to do is just move on when the question or thread starts to get ugly, especially regarding subjects/topics I care about. Or to reach out to the person who posted the question (via PM) to support them-- there's no use PMing someone who's being mean. I also think that the tone has changed a bit, which isn't surprising, but people are asking the same questions, over and over, about the holidays and politics, and while some people are on this site to actually get advice, there are more than a few who throw things out just to stir the pot, for better or worse.

Good luck to you. I know you aren't the first person this year who just didn't want to deal with the negativity anymore. I know I've needed a few breaks....

I hope your family has a meaningful Christmas.

I am a Christian and I haven't seen anything on here that would make me walk away. There is plenty of bashing on both sides of issues. Kind of keeps it lively in my opinion. I'm not easily offended though.

If I see a post by someone I know is a trouble-maker, I just skip it. I don't know about shutting down an account.... can't you just not log on anymore?

What questions are you taking about? I am a Christian and have seen no bashing. Must be people hitting the local only button when asking.

Unfortunately the negativity in this world is being fed by the unhappy people who cant see past their own problems. The bashing is part if being a Christian. We have to fight the good fight...I bet those same folk still celebrate CHRISTmas!. ;-)... Don't cancel bc there are ppl on here who need sound advice.

Don't leave, Christians have to stick together, if you walk away then you are not fighting the good fight.

Go to a Christian sight and get rejuvenated :)

I don't blame you. I come in here a few times per day and look over the questions. But what's really bothering me lately is how trivial the place really is. The bickering is going to happen. But I'm not seeing much of what I consider to be real heart-felt sharing going on. It's kind of surprising what some people think of to write about. I've always thought it's a bit odd how one person can write some self serving drivel about some family member they can barely stand and get tons of response. Someone else writes about something that's obviously really bothering them and they either get almost nothing, or they get attacked personally for having the problem in the first place.

The Christian bashing.... Oh well.... I guess that's in God's hands. The word tells us that we will give an accounting for every idle word spoken. I'm not sure most people realize that.

Wow. Hey--people are different.
Sorry that some can interpret a post about Christianity as a "liberal vs. conservative" issue. That speaks volumes about Christianity right there.
I'm a Christian AND a social liberal. Like many here.
And I'm a fiscal conservative. <gasp!>

It's not a contest.
Not all people are Christian.
People are free to express their beliefs, whether factually based, or not.
