Are parents required to stay?
"We will be paying movie admission for all of our child guests. Parents are welcome to stay. The approximate cost for adult movie admission is '$7. 50'."
My 7 yr. old son attended a Museum party, where his 2 brothers & I were also welcome. It clearly stated as above...I took no offense to it and I think most people are understading, considering the poor economy.

How old are the children and why would the parents be expecting to attend? I never had parties when the parents stayed - that's half the fun of the party!! If they are really little (but you still think they can sit through the movie) and you need help, then ask a friend or two to stay and buy their tickets only. You cannot invite people and not pay for them - so don't invite the parents!

I agree that an invitation designed like a movie ticket is fun for the kids - don't make it "child's ticket" - just "admit one" and put the name of the movie and your daughter plus the date, time, etc. You could also put a "pick-up" time in addition to the start time, so parents know when to come back. That ought to do it!

Make the invitation look like a movie ticket and put "One Free Child Admission" on it. You don't even need to say that the parents need to buy their own ticket, they don't have a "Free Admission" ticket. = )

I would be surprised if any of the parents expected you to buy them a ticket anyways.

Have fun!

I doubt you really have to explain this at all.
If anyone seems unsure, just say "I have tickets for all of the girls over here..." They'll get it. :)

I would draw a big movie ticket. With time, when, where. You could make it really cute.
