How Do I Get the Sticky off the Stove Hood?
Does anyone have any magic remedies for getting the tackiness off the hood over our stovetop? I have tried every cleaning product I can think of and nothing works. They will take it off for a couple of days, but then it comes back, even if we haven't used the stove in those couple of days. I'm tired of it looking dirty since it attracts dust since it is always tacky and would love to know what has worked for others. Prefer to stay away from strong chemicals, but at this point, willing to try anything. Thanks Mamas!

Ahhh - the sticky stovetop and surrounding areas. I too have tried all sorts of different products and agree with your first poster... super hot water and dish soap works for me. And you really have to keep scrubbing until it ALL comes off and the surface is once again slick. Once it's totally clean I wipe it down with windex.
Good luck!

I have used cooking oil to remove the sticky old oil (it really does work) and then wash off the new oil with soap and water. It is so much easier to remove the new oil then the old oil. Also, if that doesn't work I used the Easy-off oven cleaner (the one that you don't need to heat the oven for). That has remove old baked on sticky oil from my drip pans. The only thing that finally worked.

Hi T.,
Try Smart& Final's "Cleaner/Degreaser". It's not expensive, I don't mind the smell( cause it really does not smell at all) it comes in a concentrated form, so you can use it full strength or water it down. I use this to clean my oven & BBQ grates! It works wonders. Alot of resturants use it to clean the grills. Hope this works for you....

Baking soda and water, or SOS steel wool pads with cleanser in them work great.
