Well, Im cheap, so its always on 75. But, when I was pregnant, if it was above 72 I instantly knew it and cranked it back down. Damn husband trying to pull a fast one on me!

Right now at work I have a hoody on and a towel wrapped around my legs. It is freezing in my office (actually only about 74). I am most comfy at about 80. I know I am weird, but I don't like to be covered up so much.

My husband likes the house at 72, but I prefer 74. When he's not home I have it set for me, but cool it down before he gets home. At night we both like it cooler so we have 2 fans in the bedroom instead of lower the A/C.

In the winter we keep it 72-74.

It is in the 100s outside and our AC is set on 78. It is too warm for me but my husband gives me a guilt trip when I knock it any lower. We keep ceiling fans going. We also keep the shades down during the hottest part of the day, too. Lately that has been pretty much all day!! I am so ready for cooler weather!! I love Texas but HATE the hot summers.

In the winter, we set the heat on 68.

Our house is usually set to 78 - 79 in the summer months. I HATE being cold in my house and having to wear a sweater or socks when it is hot as hell outside. Yes I prefer it to be cooler than outside but any colder than 78 and I am freezing

Its hell hot here all summer and I have the a/c on 78 to save money (our elect bill is $400 this month) but ideally I would like it set at 74. I don't touch it at all, its stays on 78 24/7. At night the kids sleep with their ceiling fans on and we have an extra floor fan that I like on for the breeze and the noise.

The winter I don't have the heater on at all.

i usually set my thermostat to 73-78 degrees depending on how hot it is. In the winter I would say 72 to 76 degrees, since everything where i live runs on electric. my electric bill would be through the roof if I was not conservative.

unless it is boiling outside, I don't like AC. we rent from my inlaws and they have central air and they always keep it at 72... too cold for me, i bump it up to 75 (hey, I am the only one in the house all day!). I heard that you should dress according to the season, and THEN adjust your temperature to that and you'll save the most on heating and cooling expenses. So I wear shorts and tanks in the summer, and sweaters and layers in the winter... and the results show in our bill! I would actully prefer no AC and just open a window, myself!

We live in a snowy resort area, so in the winter time it can get pretty darn chilly... so we try to heat the house to at least 65, and then use space heaters if need be in places like the bedroom... why heat the whole house if your only in one or two rooms?

Since my husband has been deployed, I've kept the AC at 76 rather than his preferred 74. I have noticed the utility bills have been slightly less painful, so YAY! Of course when my family is visiting, I turn it back down as they tend to run hot.

Last winter, we had newborns, so we kept the thermostat at 70 or so, but I'm comfortable with 65 generally. If I have to wear a sweater outside, I don't want to have to strip down to a t-shirt when I enter my home.

72 in summer and 70 in winter. We used to keep it higher in summer and lower in winter, but we moved to a new house with great insulation and it's much more energy efficient, so we gave ourselves a break. The bills are still lower than they were before we moved.

This is a good question.

My husband and I go back and forth on this multiple times a day.

Like last night- I was FREEZING...he had cranked the air down to 68, which made it 65 inside. I put it back up to 72-73ish...he puts it back down. We go through it all summer long. In the winter we usually agree and keep it on 70-72 unless it is super cold and windy out.

I am in Texas. We keep the AC on 75 and many times knock it down a notch or 2 on the hottest times. I don't remember what we have set for heating... too hot to think about that !! We don't skimp though, we put the thermostat where at our comfort level where ever that may be.

Before I had my son, in the winter, we set our heat for 63 and wore wool socks and sweaters. This past winter, we set it for 68. We only got AC when I got pregnant with my son- otherwise it was open windows and fans. Now, pregnant again, the air comes on when it's hot and humid. We have a window unit in our living room and we set it between 68-70 degrees on super hot days- like most of this summer!. We sleep in our skins in the bedroom with a window fan:) Now, like today, it's 80 with no humidity, we have our windows open and th AC off! We'll see what happens when I start cooking tonight and heat up the kitchen!

I'm kind of quirky. I don't like air conditioning, so I avoid it when I can. The only time I even use the AC in the car is for long trips or when my mother-in-law is in the car, because she's a senior citizen. I prefer window and ceiling fans in the house, but we have an old house so it's a lot cooler than the new houses since the walls are plaster. I hate it when you go into a place and it's 20 degrees different than what it is outside, because it's hard for my body to adjust to.

For winter....I don't like it hot either, because it's just too hard to breath in that dry heat. We keep our thermostats turned to 60-65 during the day and 55 at night so we can breath. It also helps to keep my son from getting nose bleeds. We use down comforters and bubble vests. I like it like that.

My family "runs hot" so we are often more at 76 or 78 than 82, where I am perfectly comfortable, especially without humidity. In the winter we are around 68-70, often lower at night.

My old office was so cold that we'd wear sweaters in July and sometimes use space heaters, too. Waste of energy.

I'm the same as some mommies, my thermostat can be as high as 80 in the summer. As another poster said, I hate when it's hot outdoors and I go in and I have to put on a sweater etc. It's only my son and myself so we just wear less clothing and we are perfectly comfortable. If he had it his way he'd go everywhere in his underwear! I don't see the point in adding to the bill when we could just shed a layer or turn on the fan for a little bit.

I don't have A/C in my new house. Really sucks. We have a A/C unit in our playroom & our babies room for those really hot days.
I personally love it around 70-80 degrees. It can be hotter but i HATE humidity. If there is a strong cool breeze, I'm good.
At night, l Like it cold. I'm always most comfy when I can curl up in my blankets.

No central air - in the summer, if the temp in the house gets over 85 it's too hot so we'll use the bedroom ACs to cool the house down as far as it will go (we're lucky if we can cool down to 80 with them all on).

In the winter, 62 at night and 68 during the day when people are home. Our bedroom will drop into the 50s at night so we also use a space heater.

In the summer, about 78-80. My office is FREEZING all summer long - I wish the powers that be would stop spending money on AC to make everyone uncomfortable and use it to raise our salaries instead, lol. Unfortunately, I think the thermostat is controlled by men who wear long sleeves and long pants year round, so that won't happen.

In the winter, I set our thermostat at home to 72-73, sometimes a little lower at night to save $.

I do.

In the summer I like to keep the house is at 74-75 degrees, which is about all I can handle. My husband wouldn't care if the ac was off completely, and there are some, ahem, thermostat games played at our house; however, at the moment it's that setting when I'm home, and I reset it higher when I'm not. At night it's also 74 - I should add that summer nights are generally cooler where I live than where you do.

In the winter the therm is set for about 72 degrees in the daytime and 68 at night.

We just had our house sided, isolated and got new doors and windows so it's completely draft free. In past years we had to set the thermostat no lower than 72 during the winter, and no higher than 68 in the summer, just to stay comfortable, but now it's set on 70 all year and it's great!

Summer: I do 77 in the day (when husband's not home), 75 at night during summer. If it's super humid and "yuck" I might bump it down to 74 at night, but not very often. For heat in the winter, never above 75, nor below 68.
